Now that sounds like Trump, lol. The media at fault for everything.

Truthfully, he has a point on this one. The media is no longer even trying to be professional or unbiased. They no longer even report legitimate news. It is a circus and unwatchable. They lost their way somehow, and lost their journalistic integrity.

I actually know some people that voted for Trump just to spite the media because they were so hateful and biased. They didn't even like Trump, but they did not like Clinton either-- but they had it with the news coverage being so vile/toxic/one-sided.

She has stayed away from politics her entire career and said she doesn't even like talking about it either and always avoids it.

Why would she be part of this now?

You might be right, but the likelihood of her performing for a woman candidate would be expedencially higher than performing for our next president.

Oh I agree with your second sentence. haha I was not really trying to defend Trump per se but I really do not like how the media has been acting, for some time now. It is really disgusting no matter who you voted for.

In past elections, it was never this bad. They at least tried to come off "fair" to both parties even though everyone knew who they were supporting. haha But at least they TRIED to have impartiality and just report the news. Now, it's like they don't even bother to try.

When I watch the news, I just want the facts. I don't want their opinions. That is what political talk shows are for.

And whats worse is the media doesn't realize that the doesn't actually "hurt" Trump it just makes the divide bigger and the people that voted for him more in his corner. I know the media's attitude turned off a lot of people during the election. While I personally feel its a dumb reason to vote for him, I think the media played a part in him winning.

Thank you. That is what I was trying to say,, but I did not articulate it very well. I think the media turned him into a martyr to some degree, as alot of people voted for him as the "under-dog" because the media was so nasty to him.

The media really did play a role in the election, but not in the way they intended. lol

^I think you'll find those on the left have massive issues with how the media handled this election, and not at all because the media was too biased AGAINST Trump. My god.

^ confused. How can anyone say the media was not against Trump? haha Or am I misinterpreting your meaning? What was the Left unhappy about with the media treatment? I would have imagined they would love the constant hate towards Trump. Isn't that what they wanted? Confused.

I watch CNN etc, so perhaps I am watching the wrong news channels? But what I watched was all pro-Clinton 24/7.

Hey guys. Can you take your conversation about the media and Trump to your PMs instead of on the threads. Let's try to keep this thread on topic of who the AI alum it might be and what song.

Thanks.

This deserves a far more thorough answer than I'm willing to get into in a thread devoted to Carrie Underwood. Suffice it to say we clearly have divergent opinions on how the media portrayed the candidates and influenced the race this election cycle. I also watched a lot of CNN over this election cycle and I saw an incredibly small amount of coverage that was pro-Clinton. Anti-Trump does not equal pro-Clinton.

Regardless, this is not a political thread. Whew.

Oh Good Lord, no. But in my opinion it's impossible to be her, she's always been against political support. It'll be so bad for her career if she does, I know she doesn't care about others' opinions but it would be a problem.

Someone posting on that site has pointed out that Ayla Brown (a 2006 contestant) has a song called "Pride of America", and is performing at an Inauguration-eve ball. (It may, or may not, be relevant that she is also the daughter of a former Republican senator, who is currently a political commentator for Fox News.)

As for Carrie's suggested involvement, if asked, it would be up to her, naturally - but I agree with those who've said they hope she isn't the one performing. I think the argument that performers honour the office, not the man, and that the Inauguration is a symbolic and traditional element in the constitutional transfer of power - while true - is a relatively sophisticated argument, which many people are likely to miss, or ignore. It's inevitable that an appearance by any prominent singer is going to be seen by many, and made to appear by others, as an endorsement. That would risk being divisive among fans, seized on by non-fans, and linked in some people's minds with pre-existing stereotypes.

^ AIGirl-- Sorry I was not trying to offend you in anyway. I was just confused as you are the first person I have heard say that the media was not anti-Trump. Even my die hard liberal friends admitted that the media was biased against him from the beginning. haha They saw it too but loved it. haha

To clarify-- I am not a fan of either candidate so honestly, I had a really hard time voting this election. I don't fit into a political box as my views are complicated. So I am neither Left nor Right, per se. I skew both ways. And neither candidate inspired me. But I did take offense with the media just on principle.

I just did not like the media's bias and unprofressionalism in general, and I think that is a fair statement to make.

Don't worry what you said wasn't offensive. We just strongly disagree. It's interesting because even in this discussion we kind of see how the polarization of politics and the media have shaped our views, because I don't know many people outside of my own family (who are, frustratingly, predictably conservative) who felt that the media was trying to help Clinton. Most of the people I've conversed with on the issue thought there was a clear bias against Clinton. And so it's the whole problem of staying in our own bubbles. The reality is both sides feel as though the media betrayed them this cycle, and that's why you'll see both sides rallying against traditional media.

Ayla Brown makes complete sense.

^ That is a fair statement AIGirl. Perhaps the media was against both candidates as I never really saw the media go crazy with the pro-Clinton message either. It was just so negative all the time, against Trump, that I think it felt Pro-Clinton. But perhaps they spent so much time bashing Trump that they forgot to pump up Clinton more.

The more I think about it- you are right that it was not really warm and fuzzy towards Clinton either. Hmm. Interesting point.
