Tears of Gold

I absolutely LOVE the video for Tears of Gold. Carrie is so freaking gorgeous. The song is very catchy and definitely makes me want to dance, lol. It may not be the style of music that I typically go for and, of course, as a Carrie fan I always wish there was more Carrie, but I think this is pretty awesome for her to branch out and do this song and reach a whole new audience. I am glad she accepted the challenge of singing in Spanish and I really hope this serves as a great way to introduce her to the Latin music audience. Hopefully it is really successful so that Carrie can do more cool stuff like this!

Also, I was in my late teens or twenties when Jennifer Lopez was huge with songs like "Waiting for Tonight" and I loved dancing to those. If this song had come out 20 years ago, I'm sure I would have been dancing to it in a club somewhere, lol.

I wholeheartedly echo your comment. The video has grown on me & it is visually stunning. But,dang,it’s hard to find a bad angle because Carrie is gorgeous from ANY angle. She is just beyond gorgeous in the video. It’s so catchy that it’s been stuck in my head for the past 24 hours which is never a bad thing. Her singing in Spanish is still mind blowing to me & honestly,I wouldn’t mind her doing it more at all if it introduces her more to the Latin music audience. This will date me but I was in high school when JLos Waiting for tonight came out & it was EVERYWHERE & played on the radio a crap ton. Oy,I just feel old when saying that comment.

How are you feeling Josh?

Thank you for asking. This is a strange illness. I'm feeling better now, but I'm starting to sneeze and my nose is runny now, but I wasn't sneezing the other day when I had the fever.. so, I'm not sure if it's getting better or worse. And, it's really weird how I can barely taste flavors, but I can taste if foods are salty or sweet. And, it's extreme.. like, I was eating the normal black forest ham I've always eaten and it tastes like a mouthful of salt with no flavor. My senses better come back :/

Edit: sorry for posting off topic stuff here

I feel like Tears of Gold could be performed at New Years Eve.. definitely seems like that kind of song. And 4th of July with golden fireworks exploding in the sky.

It occurs to me that this is a Linda Ronstadt moment for our Carrie - shaking things up completely to remind the world that she is an artist that cannot and will not be put into a box as a singer. She can and will continue to choose projects that prevent her from being limited by the expectations of others. When Linda Ronstadt was recently honored at the Kennedy Center and Carrie performed, this was one of the aspects of Linda's career that Carrie said she admired - that Linda transitioned between country, pop, classical, folk and Latin music effortlessly, and she found a bigger/different audience with each new evolution of her career. Our Carrie is like that, I believe.

Wow,I couldn’t have said that any better if I had said it myself. She’s said before that she hates making the same album over & over, that she likes a clean slate when starting a new album so that alone tells you that she doesn’t like being boxed into one specific type of music, that she wants to try every style of music because she’s so eclectic in her own musical tastes. I can see why she chose this project just to show that she’s more than a one trick pony & there’s more to her than meets the eye. I think people see her as this blonde, ditzy type singer that can do only one thing & this proves that is so not the case with her.To be fair,I think people expect her to do one genre of music because that what she’s known for but she’s so versatile that she could easily fit in a lot of other genres if she wanted to.She’s basically like a chameleon that can do almost anything & it doesn’t seem forced or unnatural.I can see why you drew the Linda Ronstadt comparison here,it describes Carrie pretty well.

I'm absolutely shocked by "Tears of Gold".

The genre.

Her voice.

The Spanish.

I haven't figured out what other feelings I have right now. Need to listen to it a few more times.

It could be possible that they could sing this at the Grammys next year but who knows if we will get a "Live" performance of it.

I kind of agree with you. The song is catchy but you just really miss her high notes that we hear from her. It’s not a bad song, it just underutilizes her voice a little bit.She sounds great but you do miss those high notes we always hear from her.

We didn’t get the high notes, but we got to hear her sing in Spanish. Which was the highlight of the song for me.

I'm so happy she has worked on her lower register which is beautiful in this song, and in Hallelujah, as well. Her vocals seem to improve with age -- amazing!!

Thanks, I hope this doesn't have lasting effects on me.

I wonder if Carrie can actually sing the Spanish part live. I'm still shocked at her singing in Spanish like that.

I’m kind of curious if she could sing the Spanish part live too.It just seemed so flawless in the video when she sang it but I’m sure it’s probably not easy to master. The song is amazing in itself but her singing in Spanish was mind blowing& shocking all at the same time. It’s just jarring to hear her sing in a language that we’ve never heard her sing in before.

I had those same thoughts, conserning Linda!!

I can't get over how amazing Carrie sounds on TOG and the Spanish is out of this world.

I agree. Everything about Carrie in this video is out of this world. I can't believe that sexy black dress. Looked so plain in the preview, then full view in the video -- wow!! The gold gown was just as sexy but in a different way!!
Stunningly beautiful woman -- awesome talent!!
