New York City is now mandating vaccine passports for people to eat at restaurants, go to events, pretty much everything. There are tons of people who could die from the vaccine due to medical conditions and they are saying they don't care, they must be vaccinated anyway. That is EVIL.

"Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin
And it’s actually a pretty racist policy, as a majority of young African Americans and other minority groups are not vaccinated, eliminating them from public life. Really setting us back decades.

Last thing I read was 60% of Black people are unvaccinated in NYC and therefore not allowed to participate in society. Absolutely disgusting

Since you didn't answer the honest question in my post, it is clear you have no answer and realize that the CDC has truly been a mess of its own contradiction and misinformation. You just want to continue to blame an administration that you didn't like and ignore the horrendous failings of the current one. The CDC is sowing its own distrust in vaccines by saying in June the unvaccinated can go without a mask and less than two months later saying, lol never mind, even though they knew the Delta variant was rapidly spreading in June.

Plus the current president and vice president have done a terrible disservice to the confidence in vaccines by saying they wouldn't trust the vaccine under Trump. Anyway, hope you enjoy the vaccine the previous administration cut red tape for you to get.
It makes sense that you react differently to changing circumstances. The mask mandate was lifted in May. And in May covid cases were declining (source) as people were getting vaccinated; it looked like we were reaching the end of the tunnel. But then we hit a vaccination plateau and delta started to take over. Hindsight is always 20/20, but they made a decision because it looked like things were getting better and couldn't have predicted that delta would become so dominant. Apha looked like it would be the "winner" for a while before it fizzled.

Biden didn't say flat out that he wouldn't trust the vaccine. He said he only trusted the vaccine if the scientists said they were safe (source). I don't think he wanted to take medical advice from Trump given Trump mused about injecting disinfectants into our bodies (source).

I try my best to stay out of online discussions on stuff like this but I would love to have one question answered by the people who continue to compare COVID to the flu... Please explain to me the excess deaths in the US in 2020 compared to prior years.. generally year to year deaths are pretty flat but in 2020 they jumped up by about 400,000(what changed in 2020 compared to prior years? hmmmm)

I have many opinions on this topic and all things surrounding the last year (COVID, masks, vaccines, etc), but we have seen these topics do nothing but divide our nation and any group of people that discuss them. I would urge us to not let this thread get sidetracked and become a political discussion (has already started to) and to keep it purely related to articles or posts that talk about Carrie and her tweet.

I have really enjoyed this site for the last 9 years and the camaraderie that we have here as Carrie Fans and I do not want to see relationships and this site to take a hit because of these stupid discussions revolving around something we cannot change. Just my two cents 🙂

This is not a political response. My husband and I both took the J & J vaccine. we have a close family member (81) pass away after contacting the virus last Oct. we were vaccinated in March. My husband started having allergy like symptoms in June. He waited 3 days feeling like he had a bad head cold and that night lost his taste & smell. He went and tested the next morning. He had Covid, if he hadn’t lost his taste & smell he would never have tested. i tested Neg even though I was with him the entire time And had very mild allergy like symptoms. I Think I would say the flu and Covid can be very similar. But with his case the lose of taste & smell were clear indicators for us These are the vitamins recommended by our Doctor. zinc, vitamins D, C, B

First I just want to say, I always enjoy reading your well read posts. I'm a little perplexed on this though.

Do you honestly believe that Dr. Fauci has never lied to the American people? I mean he was confronted in Congress by Senator Paul (who is a medical doctor himself) with regards to masks, Wuhan Lab funding etc.. He has waffled on these issues time and time again. And sorry PRGuy79, the CDC is not showing you all of the true data they have... Reputable or not, they are giving you what the media wants people to see.... I don't care what media people chose to watch, we have our own minds and if anyone does their own research the true evidence is out there..... And I have seen it and was appalled to the lies by the media as well as Dr. Fauci. Who again is the highest paid person under this current admin.....

I don't think it is fair to blame a past president for the current failures at hand..... I mean look at our southern borders, how can we expect unvaccinated people to get the vaccine but yet people come through our borders with god knows what all kind of diseases and this is being totally ignored...
My sentiments exactly. If you’re out there demanding or at least somewhat demanding that people get the vaccine (or face consequences in the forms of fines, banned entry, etc) then you’d at least be inclined to patch up the holes in the border influx or travel. This administration undermined the confidence in the vaccine by allowing the influx of all manner of drugs, unvaccinated illegal migrants entering at record rates, the awful sex trafficking occurring because of open borders...I digress. I’m disgusted with this unmitigated influx of people when we can’t even take care of our own. Way too many homeless, impoverished, etc. But demanding a vaccine that’s already toting a booster.....ughhhhh. I live not far from the border. IT IS HORRIBLE what is going on at some of my friends ranches. Completely trashed. All on the American taxpayer dime this is going on.... we’ve given billions of dollars to the socialist countries from which they are coming to help them. And yet we want to become a country just like the ones they are running from? BS

Not true. He and Kamala both said they wouldn’t trust the vaccine if provided by Trump. And by the way....a to z variants are on their way.....do you think it stops with D?

I was thinking about this last night before bed. I kinda think her liking the tweet was an accident, or she saved it to watch. Not because that's what i want, I'm definitely in the category of not caring, I just don't want backlash for her. My point is, if she really wanted people to know that's where she stood why not RT it? Like, if you're going to cause this much crap for yourself say it with your WHOLE CHEST. And people will point to the fact that she liked the Governor's tweet on IG. I say, so what? He's the Gov. Isaiah may have as much of a claustrophobic issue as one of my nephews. I just think a like is an odd way to make a point. Obviously I'm not famous, but I don't think about people looking at my likes. Do I think she wants her kid to wear a mask? I doubt it. However, she trended for so long, at some point, at some event, someone will ask her about it. This is why I don't think she necessarily wanted to make a point with the like. She liked a post about things being hard or heavy and Mike posted something similar on IG stories. If you knew this was going to happen you wouldn't be posting or liking that kind of stuff, you wouldn't care. I never look at people's likes btw, but after this crap i looked to see if she unliked the horrible human who used her name to get attention.

The issue at the southern border has nothing to do with the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine. If the vaccine is effective, it is effective. Period. Data proves that. You can argue about people crossing the border and spreading the virus - fine - but that has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the vaccine. And until more people get vaccinated, we're going to live with the virus. And if we have to live with the virus, we have to limit its spread by wearing a mask - especially to protect those who are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine - i.e. children. It really isn't that complicated and certainly shouldn't be controversial.

Senator Rand Paul is an arrogant blowhard who will say anything to get reelected in Kentucky. And he is an ophthalmologist. I'll trust Dr. Fauci, an expert in immunology who is the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and who is not an elected politician from a state that overwhelmingly supported the previous president, any day.

And yes, I will stand by my criticism of the previous president, who literally could not complete a sentence without telling a lie throughout his presidency. His dedication to spreading misinformation was especially catastrophic when it came to COVID-19 and I hold him personally responsible for the widespread death and devastation we are continuing to see in this country. Until more people get vaccinated, we are making a collective choice to live with this virus. And sadly, the choices of others (who choose to ignore reality and buy into the misinformation that is being peddled like snake oil) have an impact on everyone. So I'm tired of the "it's my choice" argument, because when "your choice" impacts another person, it is no longer simply "your choice".

Mask mandate for my state was done end of June, and CDC reversed less than two months later.

You seem to believe that words matter, as evidenced by you bringing up a debunked claim about the disinfectant. Well words matter when Biden or Harris say something too, and saying they will not trust Trump on the vaccine matters if people listen. This is a two way street.

That is correct, when you loose your taste and smell that is COVID…..

my problem is even if you have just the flu they add a covid diagnosis for an up charge in reimbursement…..

No, it won't. It is a virus. I heard a doctor discussing why this will be around forever. It has animal hosts as well (dogs, cats, deer) meaning it will circulate in those populations and possibly be able to jump to humans at anytime. The reason diseases like Polio have been eradicated, was because there was no other host except humans.

Arrogant or not, republican or not, he challenged the man clearly for his lies... Regardless of being an expert, they both went to medical school for what 8 + years, but just studied different specialties.... So as I see this, this virus started in China, a lab that was funded by Dr. Fauci and his cronies.,.... What happened to going by science, he clearly is not doing that..

Its all now government controlled... I firmly stand behind that.... I could care less about Republican vs Democratic stances...

Rand Paul is an ophthalmologist. If I need lasik surgery or a new pair of glasses, his opinion might matter (although I prefer my healthcare providers not be arrogant blowhards). In a life and death situation with a novel coronavirus, I will proudly listen to the nation's leading immunologist who has had the courage to call Rand Paul (and many others) out for their ignorance and irresponsibility in spreading lies during a pandemic. We're talking about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, people - not some fringe organization. Enough with the conspiracy theories. People are dying!

People are dying, and will forever that is part of life unfortunately. The virus (human intervention) is now here forever, lets focus our attention on doing the right things, not making it government control...

Follow science which it seems PRGuy79 you are choosing to ignore.... Again I'm not taking a political stance here because it's wrong..

Dr. Fauci is not following science...
