The biggest-selling female rock artist of all-time, the Canadian-American pop-rocker multi-time Grammy winner Alanis Morissette, is releasing a new album in 8 years in 2020, titled Such Pretty Forks in the Road. The album will be released on May Day/Labour Day, 1 May 2020.

The lead single, "Reasons I Drink", has just been released. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=judPeg4rCoI

This will be her first album since 2012's Havoc and Bright Lights, her last full-length album which hit No 1 on the United World Chart, at the time breaking the record of lowest-selling No 1 album in the chart's history. The record also occupied the penthouse in Australia, Canada, and Switzerland. That album produced two hits, the No 11-peaking lead "Guardian" and the Top 40 single "Receive", it has an additional single "Lens". The bonus track "Big Sur" also received a music video.

Since the No 1 LP, she has released several tracks:

"Magical Child" (officially, commercial) on Every Mother Counts - a song to commemorate the first birth of her first son

"Ego", "Jekyll and Hyde" (released also as a bonus track on Havoc and Bright Lights), "Tools of Divine", "Whatever Nice Is" on her husband's album Iron Horse Running (Souleye).

"Today", a charity single released in support of the fated congressional campaign of the independent Marianne Williamson, a best-selling author and founder of Project Angel Food and the Peace Alliance.

"This Morning", a charity single and theme song to the documentary A Small Section of the World, a film about strong and independent coffee-producing women in the Latin American nation Costa Rica.

Her last international hit was the aforementioned "Guardian" (2012), which peaked at No 11 in Australia, No 12 in Switzerland, No 13 in Germany, and No 37 in Belgium.

Her last chart entry on the United World Chart was the Seal cover "Crazy" (2005), the promotional single for her compilation The Collection, and was included in the blockbuster The Devil Wears Prada. It peaked inside the Top 40 on the UWC, and No 20 in Australia.

Her last international smash was "Everything" (2004), the lead single to the love-filled No 1 album So-Called Chaos, an album written for her then-finance Hollywood superstar, Entertainment Weekly Entertainer of the Year, Grammy and Golden Globe nominee, the star in the record-breaking Deadpool movie, fellow Canadian-American Ryan Reynolds, now husband of TCA and PCA winner Blake Lively, best known for her role in the hit TV series Gossip Girl. The track reached Top 10 on the UWC, and was No 3 in her native Canada.

Her last international smash was 2002's "Hands Clean", which was No 2 on the UWC for 5 weeks, behind only Shakira's "Whenever Wherever", the latter the biggest hit of the year. It was the first single off the No 1 album Under Rug Swept. It reached the top in Canada and New Zealand.

Her biggest hit so far is "Ironic" (1996) from her legendary and much decorated, celebrated album Jagged Little Pill (1995). The album stands as the biggest-selling debut album of all-time, the biggest-selling female album in history, and at the time, the best-selling album by a female artist in the 1990s (later surpassed by another Canadian act, Shania Twain's Come On Over). The album also made her the youngest Album of the Year winner (at 21) ever at the time (a record later broken by Taylor Swift when Fearless won the same award when she was 19).

Jagged Little Pill received numerous commemorative releases through the years. Apart from the special Japanese edition and the Japanese-only EP Space Cakes, in 2005, she released Jagged Little Pill Acoustic, changing the lyric in "Ironic" to support gay marriage. In 2015, she re-released the hit record with 2 live CDs and 10 previously leaked demos.
