Singer/Songwriter Ashley Monroe has announced her engagement to John Danks, a baseball pitcher with the Chicago White Sox.
Ashley lost her father at an early age, and persuaded her mother that if they moved to Nashville, she could earn a living as a songwriter. She became one of the youngest ever writers signed to a Music Row publishing house. Her only major label album was shelved in the uncertainty following the Sony-BMG merger, and only resurfaced much later in digital releases. She has mainly worked on independent projects, with Trent Dabbs, Ten From Tennessee, This Is My America, and the acclaimed "Old Enough" with Jack White and Ricky Skaggs. Ashley co-wrote Carrie's "Flat On The Floor". Her second major break has come as a member of the Pistol Annies, with Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley (where she uses the nickname Hippie Annie)
