Award Season in 2017

First they said they were cancelling it right after the second season premiered. Then they said it's definitely dead despite appreciating all the fans the show has.
Now Netflix has announced that they will make a 2 hour finale for Sense8. It's nice of them to do that, especially after the open ended finale of the last season.

I read that Amy Adams gave up her first class flight ticket when she saw a soldier in uniform. She quietly told the airline she wanted to give him her ticket and she took his coach ticket. I always thought she seemed nice but I have a whole new respect for her now.
She's a military kid. She was born in Italy (or somewhere like that) while her dad was stationed there. It's mentioned occasionally by interviewers.

^ I wanna say I think I mentioned it but I could also be losing my mind.

Guys I have the next NINE days off. What movies from the first half of 2017 do I need to be watching

Stronger is probably going to make me cry. I really like both Jake and Tatiana.

Also you'd think Tatiana being an Emmy winner would be better promotion than golden globe nominee. I guess since the other actors were nominees too they just went for symmetry.

^ I thought that they said golden globe nominee because it's a film and TV award (even if she was nominated for her TV work) as opposed to the Emmys. But your explanation makes a lot more sense. Anyway I've been ready for Tat to make her mark in movies for a long time. She deserves to make it big time. Hopefully this opens a lot of doors for her.

I am woefully ignorant about the movies that came out this year. I wanna see Baby Driver. Lost city of Z seems to be a really good one. And I'm done. Maybe this will be a bit more helpful
Best movies of 2017 so far
Happy vacation!!

I am proud that I made it through The Lord of the Rings trilogy last weekend! I had attempted to make it through the first movie a couple of times but something about it put me to sleep. It was tough this time, but I made it! Lol

I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. If you look on IMDB you'd think these movies were the best ever, but they were just okay to me. As I said, it was tough just staying awake.

It does make me question how the Academy can award one of these "fantasy" movies Best Picture and the greatest "fantasy" or "comic book" movie of all-time in my opinion, The Dark Knight, didn't even get nominated.

Sorry if you love TLOTR. I didn't think they were bad, just not as good as other people seem to think they are.

^This is taking an unfortunate turn.

I haven't watched the trilogy for a few years now. But I have loved it all the times I did watch it before.

^I think you pretty much have to love them to truly enjoy them. The reason being that they are so long. If you love them, it's great. If you just like them, it can feel like they go on forever. Also, I didn't see them in the theater which I believe would be a different kind of experience.

Emmy nominations coming on Thursday. With game of thrones (and downton abbey) out of the running this year, the wealth could be spread. I wonder how many first season shows will get into best drama. Stranger Things, this is us, the handmaid's tale and Westworld are gonna have to fight it out with the perennial nominees. Tatiana Maslany also isn't eligible this year. I don't think they would have nominated her anyway.

Is there a chance of Veep and JLD being dethroned? This season of Veep was kind of all over the place. It became sort of broad in it's comedy and the characters are becoming one note. I miss the Ianucci years.

THR's drama actor, comedy actor and actress roundtables are up on YouTube.
