Miranda Lambert‘s new single, ‘Somethin’ Bad’ is certainly one that leaves an impression. Enlisting the assistance of her fellow country superstar Carrie Underwood, Lambert goes full-tilt diva for a song that’s just about as much fun as a song can be.

‘Somethin’ Bad’ begins with Lambert’s character ditching her wedding right before the ceremony and heading out on the run. This runaway bride is ready for some mischief and Underwood’s character is just the right Thelma to her Louise. The girls are ready to cause some trouble — from the local bar of the bride’s small town all the way to the streets of New Orleans.

“Pulled up to the church but I got so nervous / Had to back it on up, couldn’t make it to the service / Grabbed all the cash underneath my mattress / Got a real good feeling somethin’ bad about to happen,” sings Lambert in the first verse, setting the scene for a girl who’s not ready to settle down just yet.

It’s obvious when they say something bad is about to happen, the dynamic duo really means something devilishly good. Neither star’s full vocal ability or range is on display here; it’s also clear their main priority is just to have a rip-roaring time. The ready-for-anything lyrics and the way that Lambert and Underwood belt them out with such power, make ‘Somethin’ Bad’ a catchy girl-power anthem.

Full of heavy beats and a hard rock sound, ‘Somethin’ Bad’ is quite a departure from the twangy nostalgia of ‘Automatic,’ Lambert’s first single off her fifth studio album, ‘Platinum.’ She’s done reminiscing about the past — this girl’s ready for some good, old-fashioned trouble-making and fans will be more than happy to join her.

Why Fans Will Love It: ‘Somethin’ Bad’ is a powerhouse anthem for girls who aren’t ready to let boys have all the fun. Plus, it puts together two of country’s biggest superstars, which, in an industry saturated by men, not even the most critical listeners can resist.

Key Lyrics: ”Stand on the bar, stomp your feet, start clapping / I got a real good feeling somethin’ bad about happen / The drinks keep comin’, throw my head back laughing / Wake up in the morning, don’t know what happened / Whoa, somethin’ bad, whoa, somethin’ bad.”

Did You Know?: In honor of their first (and hopefully not last) duet, Lambert bought Underwood the ultimate bad-girl gift — a motorcycle!

It looks like they had a lot of fun in the studio together. I hope this isn't the last time Carrie and Miranda work together.

Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert Duet, Video : People.com

There's nothin' bad about this video!

In the clip above, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood take us behind the scenes in the recording studio while they work on their catchy new duet, "Somethin' Bad." The superstars hit all the high notes – and even have time for a little fun – while laying down their tracks.

Though it looks pretty seamless in the video, Lambert has admitted that she was nervous about joining forces with her friend.

"When she came in the studio I was writing to [husband] Blake, 'I'm in over my head, I don't know what I've done!' When you respect someone like that you get so nervous," she told PEOPLE Country. "To hit the notes she hits, I would have to take off running and jump as high as I could."

The two performed the duet live for the first time at May's Billboard Music Awards in L.A., taking the stage again in Nashville in June, first at the CMT Music Awards and then at the CMA Music Fest.

"This song meshes our styles – it's a great match of what she does and what I do," Lambert shared. "I hope she'll come to the dark side and we can explore something on video! I want the 'Before He Cheats' Carrie!" We look forward to that!

CMT : News : Miranda Lambert's Up to Somethin' Good, Too

The name of the single might be "Somethin' Bad," but I'm gonna have to argue that Miranda Lambert's newest soon-to-be smash featuring Carrie Underwood is truly "somethin' good."

And I mean something good beyond the song's rockin' arrangement, or sassy lyrics, or downright sexy new video.

This song is a triumphant moment for ladies -- a celebration of female kinship, of sisterhood -- but it's more than simply a picture of girl power. I believe it's full-on girl empowerment.

Although those two phrases -- "girl power" and "girl empowerment" -- seem to be one and the same, I can't help but notice that sometimes their usage doesn't produce the same result. The sad truth is that not all messages and moments of supposed "girl power" truly do anything to lift up women.

You see, any of us ladies can adopt an "I am woman, hear me roar" attitude and shout "girl power!" from the rafters. That's easy. We can even do that standing alone, without aid from any of our fellow femmes, really.

But is that really an example of any of us letting go of ego, pride or insecurity and helping each other out? Is it truly an illustration of us "sticking together" and actually practicing what we're preaching? We can "talk the talk," sure, but "walking the walk" and doing something about it requires action -- an action word -- like the word empower.

As in the actual act of empowerment: the giving, the sharing of power, the encouraging of other women, the joining of forces with other females. That is truly making a difference, and in my eyes, exactly what Lambert is doing here.

She's sharing her power with another international powerhouse -- the incomparable Underwood, who needs no help whatsoever snagging and maintaining a spotlight and let's face it, could arguably been seen as competition for Lambert.

But that's clearly not how these women think about it. This isn't a competition for the two stars. Instead, Lambert and Underwood are in the trenches with this one, working to lift up the ladies together. For them, girl power isn't just a state of mind or a talk you talk. It's a walk you walk. And they want everyone to walk this journey with them.

And that's not just somethin' good. That's somethin' great.

Miranda's Platinum tour will start next week. I wonder how they will handle SB on tour - Carrie hologram just like in Brad's show perhaps?

Her backup singer if I heard right to be Caolyn Dawn Johnson could handle it if they wanted to go that route. Maybe Miranda will.do it solo since they supposedly gotthat version.
