It’s the moment of truth for Carrie Underwood‘s new single, ‘Something in the Water.’ The song has just won its fourth straight Showdown, topping Dierks Bentley in another landslide victory. If Underwood wins again this week, ‘Something in the Water’ will be retired into the Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame.

But not so fast. Glen Campbell has just released the final single of his career, a song titled ‘I’m Not Gonna Miss You.’ Taken from the new documentary ‘Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me,’ the heartbreak ballad is a reflection on his life as he enters the late stages of Alzheimer’s. Could he be the one to break Underwood’s run?

Listen to clips of both Underwood and Bentley’s songs and vote for your favorite here. You can vote once every hour until this Showdown ends on Monday at 8AM ET, so come back and vote often to be sure your artist wins. The winner of this matchup will face a new challenger on Monday.

Showdown Rules: The song with the most votes wins, and the winner goes on to face a new challenger in the next Showdown. Vote as much as once per hour online. If a song wins five Showdowns in a row, it will be retired into the Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame to allow for new songs to compete. Some songs will be considered for a second Showdown if voter turnout is healthy in a losing effort.

(Glen Campbell's final recording was made in Jan, 2013, before his condition worsened. Sadly, he is now in residential care. The song was co-written with producer Julian Raymond, and is part of a farewell EP, with contributions from his daughter, Ashley Campbell, and from the Band Perry, who perform the John Hartford classic "Gentle on Mind")

I feel for someone battling a crippling disease, and that song has great resonance, both personal and for the passing of an era. In a way, the pairing of two very different songs, with very different inspirations, seems rather awkward and unnecessary on the part of the website.

But eras have to pass, and Carrie and her song take up the torch as worthy representatives of the spirit of the genre today - and Carrie is the one I'm proud to be voting for.
