Position Changes

Over 60 songs moved positions this past month which is over half of Carrie's discography, so I will not be able to post all of them. I will just post a few highlights.

26. Ghost Story - 24.464 (+967k)

27. Wasted - 24.236 (+292k)

40. Hallelujah (+3 spots)
44. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing (+3 spots)
61. Little Drummer Boy (+4 spots)
63. Stretchy Pants (+3 spots)
65. Crazy Angels (+6 spots)

82. Denim & Rhinestones (+5 spots)
89. Ever Ever After 3.181m (DEBUT)
99. Hate My Heart (+12 spots)
101. Favorite Time of Year (+5 spots)

My Gift saw a huge month in November and will have an even bigger month coming up. Will most likely hit over 10 million streams this month and could repass D&R in the album standings. My Savior is still steadily rising with each song gaining decently each month. HMH streams are looking good, however Ghost Story is falling pretty fast and we could see another stall around 30-40 million (similar to LW and DA).

^^Great update. Thank you!

Monthly Spotify listeners for Carrie are now up by 1 million over where they were this time last month, so it is nice to see My Gift kicking in strong.

Hoping HMH has longevity on the streaming front like Southbound continues to have. The singles that stream okay only thanks to the major playlist then stall afterwards do nothing to help move the album forward (Cry Pretty, Love Wins, Drinking Alone, Ghost Story.)

Still hope she releases a deluxe version just ahead of leg 2 of the tour with If I Didn't Love You on it. Would majorly help drag D&R forward in certifications. Whereas if she doesn't it will be a very long trip to gold, and platinum may not ever happen.

Spotify monthly listeners for Carrie are now up to 9.8 million - about 1.8 million more than where we were at the beginning of November. We continue to see a noticeable difference daily. I look forward to seeing how this equates to increase in song and album streams.

Carrie is up to 10.2 million monthly Spotify users - over 2 million from where she was in early November.

One curious note for me, if I am understanding it correctly: Of all her Christmas songs, "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" is getting the most streams on Spotify according to her top songs list. "Favorite Time of Year" and "Hallelujah" are several spots below. I would have thought that one of the most popular songs from "My Gift" would be doing better than a non-album track - especially with all the promotion.

I’ve noticed ever since the movie disenchanted came out that ever ever after been getting more AirPlay let me explain there are days in which I listen to hate my heart for the entire way to and from work and then there are days in which I select an artist and click shuffle. Before the movie disenchanted aired Ever Ever After didn’t appear now however different story for example today (well technically last night) it was the first song that appeared when I pressed shuffle.

2022 Year-End Spotify Streams

I have been keeping track of the yearly stream count, so I will be listing all of Carrie's discography in this post. I will be doing it by album just so it stays more clean. Most of discography, especially album tracks, saw a pretty large loss, but that is due to D&R getting 53 million streams since her fans were streaming her newer music more than her old albums.

Very interesting. Thank you for your hard work. BHC is just a monster! Excited to see AAG getting some well deserved attention. Disappointed to see SITW not getting enough attention. The Champion is working overtime for Cry Pretty. Didn‘t someone here suggest releasing an edition of My Gift to include Carrie’s earlier Christmas songs which are performing well? It might be nice for certification purposes. Church Bells and Blown Away are still big. Legacy songs? I think so along with BHC and JTTW. I think AAG is too but it seemed to me people had cooled on it for awhile which seems to be turning around. Personal favorites DL and TBC seem to still be resonating. Would love to get a big streamer from D&R. Not sure if HMH will be it. CA seems optimistic.

Something Bad is a mystery to me.🤷🏻‍♀️ Appreciate all streams though.

Thank you again. This was a lot of work. It’s fascinating.

So kind of off topic, but a fact at this point. Streaming has taken over this day and age, actual sales are great for for couple weeks, but then the focus turns to streaming. One key factor that comes with streaming is content.
The reason I bring this up, is if you look any the charts. After the first couple of weeks, maybe you’re looking at 1-2k sales, and the rest is made up of streaming. One call out was Morgan Wallens last album charting so well. It was a double album with 24 songs. So there was variety that kept him current on the charts, and remaining on playlist, with multiple entries.

The reason I bring this up, is Morgan just announced his next album, and it’s a triple album, with 36 songs. So it’s going to have many legs, and variety in having it place high week after week, even beyond sales drop, streams will keep it alive. If we are wanting success on streaming, more content needs to be on albums. His double album broke records, primarily streaming records, and now this next album will be even longer.

Carrie should release a "The Ones That Got Away" album full of like 30 songs she's written or put on hold for other eras that didn't make the albums for one reason or another. From the leaks of unreleased songs I've heard throughout her career, while there have been some duds, I've found many to be on par with what ends up making her albums, some even better.

I would love for Carrie to release an album of covers from all her favorite genres. It could be a multi-disc album divided by genre, which would help with streaming. They could release a different single to each radio format - country, AC, etc.

I just really wish Carrie’s label and her team would prioritize streaming. Carrie CAN get great streaming numbers, just look at IIDLY, Champion, and even her last solo #1 Church Bells. There’s no reason D&R should be flopping so hard in streaming when it’s an album of bops. For instance, radio has more interest in HMH than they have had in a single by Carrie in years. And if that translated to streaming too, HMH would be pulling great streaming numbers. And Carrie definitely still has a pretty young fan base, she is definitely well known by the general public. She is still very buzzy and a household name, so there is no reason she should not have streaming hits. It’s like there just isn’t enough of an effort, a promo in that department, and it makes me so upset, the missed opportunity. UMG needs to get to work on this, but I doubt they ever will. I just want Carrie to have another huge streaming & overall buzzy smash hit😕😫

It would be a great gift for the fans, but Carrie is too much of a perfectionist to be able to release an album like that.

I would love it, I hope this idea reaches her. It could be rock, Christian/gospel and classic country. If she took a chance, she could also do pop.

The 80's theme that inspired the album "Denim & Rhinestones" is already overused, the timing for this release was wrong. Whenever I show Carrie to my friends, I hear the same thing, that her aesthetic is tacky, that her voice lacks subtlety, that they don't like artists who hit such high notes, etc. Maybe it's a new generation that's no longer that interested in her style and old fans no longer buy albums or have switched to streaming.

I’d say the new generation isn’t into singers as much as they are into influencers/brands. Hear me out… Olivia and Billie aren’t really known for the notes they can hit but rather their brand. I’d even bring other established artists into the conversation Miley and Taylor. These artists are really good at switching up their style and brand to stay with current times. Carrie has never been this type of artist and it reflects in the quality and consistency of her work.
