Thanks so much for updating.. and, I know I speak for all of us about having the ’like’ button back!Hi all, guess who's back in the saddle?
Some of you have undoubtedly noticed the recent changes. I had to get the site back on one of my servers and that required some forced upgrades, etc. Unfortunately the vBulletin software is just horrendous nowadays and it's a royal pain to deal with. I will be changing over to Xenforo in the near future, I think it provides a much better and certainly more modern experience. That said, there will be some thing that will probably get lost, go away, be delayed in converting over, etc. Most of the more significant things should be fine but there may be a few that can convert directly or at all, we'll see. One of the biggest things I may do is combine some of the forums, especially ones that haven't been active in some time and have similar content. It's much better to have less active forums than a lot of inactive ones.
Anyway, I'm open to content ideas or just ideas in general. If anyone is tinkering with graphics and want to take a stab at updated banners hit me up.
Finally, I don't have an ETA. The bigger changes will happen when I have confirmed they work and when I have time to do them. Some will have to be worked out after the initial conversion.
I am loving the new modern style. I find it much easier to navigate and more interactive! Thanks so much for updating.. and, I know I speak for all of us about having the ’like’ button back!
It does but for me the link takes me to the first unread post in a thread. There are green icons that say New on the posts that haven’t been seen yet. If you’ve seen them already then it takes you to the post itself.I understand I can do that, but that takes me to the last post issued & skips all the ones in between the last time I checked in & that particular post. If that makes any sense...
It’s become annoying. Ads every time you click to a new area on here.I don't know about everyone else, but I am getting overwhelmed with ads now every time I check in. A huge banned ad between each & every new thread.
Love it! You're the "Sally Field of Carrie Fans".I keep checking the reaction score points I’m quite competitive. The phrase “they like me, they really, really like me” keeps popping in my head
Ain’t nothing left field about thatLove it! You're the "Sally Field of Carrie Fans".
This is true, but, the ads I know like when viewing on my phone literally are in between posts and all the forums and it’s very confusing to navigate through, and it may deter people from coming on. I don’t mind if the ads are like at the very top of pages or bottoms, but not literally after every post or comment someone makes. To me, ads are a small price to pay for maintaining a free site that allows us all to freely discuss and share our favorite topic. The infrastructure to support this platform costs somebody to create and maintain what we all enjoy for free. Let them earn the revenue that makes it possible. I choose to look at it that way.
Strange. My ads appear at the bottom of every page not comment. I see lots of ads constantly. But I’ve gotten used to it lolI have an ad blocker on and I don't see any ads.
There are so many they almost feel like a caricature or virus, lol. I've seen people say they don't come here anymore due to ads, which is unfortunate. My biggest complaint is when they get in the way of the content, which happens a bit too much :/The constant ads on this place takes a lot of the fun out of it. I understand the need to monetize to keep the place afloat, but enough was more than enough a long time ago. Moderation in all things is good.
