Former American Idol runner-up and Broadway baby Diana DeGarmo is headed to The Young and the Restless for a very juicy contract role! She'll be playing Angelina, the Jersey-girl daughter of mob boss Angelo (Mike Starr). The actress-singer starts shooting the CBS soap the week of September 22 and is expected to hit the air late October.

I loved Diana on Idol; I enjoyed her first album for and thought it was really age-appropriate for where she was in her life at the time. Although I love Jordin's voice, Diana's material on her first album was much better than anything Jordin recorded on her debut.
I'm really glad that she's been able to find quite a bit of success on Broadway; there are way too many Idols that fade into obscurity. I'm happy she's been able to make a living as an actress/performer. Good for her.
