Caught the tail end of GS on the radio! It was great
This goes back to the old "Saladgate" controversy, where a radio programmer discussed the radio formula for the country music industry and compared female artists to tomatoes on a salad , with "salad" being the airplay selection - basically acknowledging that the industry viewed them as a garnishment rather than a substantive portion. It was pathetic, but it was a rare moment when someone in power spoke aloud what had previously been unacknowledged. We knew it already, but it didn't lessen the sickening feeling of having it confirmed. So, the post in question was acknowledging the "formula" that exists. If there are a certain number of "tomato" spots to be had and some of the other "tomatoes" are falling with reduced spins, then Carrie, as a "tomato", may benefit.I’m not sure how that works.
They usually only have a set amount of songs that they keep in a certain rotation for females. Right now Carly Pearce’s song is in high rotation (it’s in the top 5,) and Maren’s and Miranda’s songs are in medium rotation (they are in the top 15/20.)I’m not sure how that works.
