Sales data from USA Today. It's being a long time since it contained CR sales data. Based on that data, CR sold about 600-650 the week prior. Two more weeks to go for Brad's album to get to Gold.

SH outsold PO, possibly in part because Amazon has it on sale for $5 (mp3).

Track sales data usually come out several hours later than the album sales data. I will add to the post when the data becomes available.

Thanks! Was it this week or next week that we were expecting RM to pass 1 million in sales?

^^^Last week, RM sold 42,057 (down 18% from 51,066 the week prior) and brought the total to 947,883.

This week, the sales may be in the 35k range which would bring the total to 983k. So, next week will be when RM achieves Platinum.

SH still does so well every week, and I saw CR was on sale on itunes so that probably boosted its sales. We havent seen it on the weekly sales for a while, its total sales are higher than i thought!

@Pi314CA Brads Album was certified gold June 30th 5 weeks after it's release as certs are based on shipments not sales. Congrats to Mr Bennett for earning his first #1 album well deserved. it's nice to see carnival ride charting agian SH is 970k ahead of it's nearest Idol contender Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway in sales and 80k behind Mariah Carey's music box in the soundscan best sellers list Music Box has sold 7, 210,000 copies as of 9/11/11 after it's release 12 years prior though it's shippped 10 million and thus is certified diamond or 390,000 less than her other Diamond certified album Daydream which up to that date had sold 7,601,000

Explain this again.

I don't know why someone would like to bring up Mariah Carey again and again, especially when that's not even the best example. Better examples could be Shania Twain's "Come On Over", which got certified for Double Platinum despite only scanned around 15 million copies on Soundscan.

And the reason was because 1. Overshipping; 2. There were more physical retails to carry these overshipped copies; 3. These albums have legs, and they have sold massive amounts when they were peaking, so the shops were confident enough to get those extra copies; 4. Back then there are music clubs sales which do not count towards Soundscan because they offer albums at such a low price. But they count towards R.I.A.A. certificates. And they did matter in the past, selling 1-2 million copies of an album.

Wow Pi, you're really good, you nailed the 35K before the stats came out. :)

Remind Me looks set to top Undo It!

The combination of powerful fan-bases always leads to good sales. Add to that a kick-a%% song, and you're set!

actually to correct My previous post Music Box was Released 18 years ago not 12 and it's true that certs are based on shipments not hard sales and not counting music clubs which aren't tracked by soundscan SH has sold 7.12 while Breakaway has sold 6.13 since their respective releases while those two Mariah Carey Albums are at 7.6 million and 7.2 million respectively since thier releases
