THE NEW YORK TIMES reports SONY Corporate was "hit by a strong yen and falling TV prices," and SONY's profit fell 8.6% in the fiscal third quarter from the same period a year earlier. The decline came as the company made a renewed push in music and gaming with a flurry of new services and gadgets.
SONY MUSIC was down 14.5% as compared to a year earlier, with revenues of $1.72 billion. SONY's best-selling releases of the quarter came from MICHAEL JACKSON, SUSAN BOYLE, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, KINGS OF LEON and the GLEE soundtracks.
