Highly unlikely.

Gary Allen, Milegend Cyrus, Lorde, Mary J Blige, Kelly Clarkson (holiday album), Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, One Direction, Justin Bieber, etc could all pass her. Then there could be holiday and Grammy hype.

Will the SOM soundtrack count towards Carrie's overall career sales? She is the primary artist on it. Tx.

Difficult to tell with soundtracks really. Whitney Houston's The Bodyguard is often counted even though she wasn't the primary artist; Madonna's Evita is sometimes counted, sometimes not, while Who's That Girl is usually counted even though she was the primary artist on E but not very much WTG; nobody seemed to care about Christina Aguilera's Burlesque much. People often try to discredit Miley Cyrus with all the Hannah Montana soundtracks.

I would say it depends on how the album is marketed and what the record label insists it to be. We will have a better idea when we see whether she is listed as the artist of the album when it hits the charts.

She will be singing 9 out of 21 songs, almost half of them. It should count towards Carrie's sales.

And she would basically be the reason why anyone would like to buy the album. But just because it should, doesn't mean it will. It's like Red is poppy, and most of its sales came from pop fanatics who fancy 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' and 'I Knew You Were Trouble.'

So it should be counted as a pop record, but it doesn't. It's pretty much about how it's marketed and the claims made by the labels concerned. If it is something 'The Sound of Music Cast' then definitely not.

There's no way that's gonna happen. It isn't gonna be "The Sound of Music Recording - Carrie Underwood".

Also, do we really expect this to sell all that well?

It is on the contrary pretty possible that it would be '...Cast' or '...Recording'. They usually do it that way.

No I don't think it's expected to sell much, but it could go gold.
