I’m bummed I missed it. But the comments about the dead crowd, I feel like it’s kinda typical for her shows honestly…? at least from my own personal experience from attending her concerts and seeing some other televised performances. It’s just how it is a lot of times. However, is it different for any of the other female acts? Are Miranda’s and Marens fans any more active?
Yeah the crowd is usually pretty muted for Carrie's shows. Ever watch some of the videos on Dan + Shay's Instagram of the crowd all singing along to their songs? It's insane. Dan + Shay has a younger fanbase though I think, and them having a lot of big, recent hits certainly helps too. Carrie's bigger hits are mostly from years ago and people might not remember all the lyrics. Plus it doesn't help that all her songs are hard to sing. Because the crowd was definitely into BHC at the end.
That said, Carrie's set was awesome and I loved that this was her Coachella with multiple outfit changes/custom denim jacket, TBC guitar, tons of BA confetti, choir, special guests, etc. It was great she debuted the two new D&R songs (loved how happy she looked singing D&R, and hope songs on the new album become crowd favorites at future festivals/concerts), performed Church Bell a la the CMT's, and even brought out HGTA which was unexpected given the venue but is always a showstopper. Church Bells was the worst song for there to be microphone issues on though, especially given the arrangement she did. Luckily Carrie is loud enough that she powered through having to sing into Sydni's backup vocals mic. But then I thought her vocals were really quiet during the GS and IIDLY choruses too, and then some guy randomly doing mic check as Carrie started another song.. Someone definitely got in trouble.
