Personally, Carrie should be #1 IMO, but pop artists are always more favorably received by the media

I am disappointed by this assessment. I definitely think Carrie should be first. Unfortunately, the timing wasn't in Carrie's favor. Kelly's career trajectory has been on an upswing the last several years, especially with her talk show and The Voice, while Carrie's has trended down. This timing reinforces Kelly's image as a widely popular artist and Carrie as more niche. The decisions made by Carrie and her team during the next era will be especially critical in positioning her for continued commercial success.
