Fisher talks about moving on
Mike Fisher admits he was as surprised as anyone upon learning of the trade that would make him a Nashville Predator.
Fisher was with the Ottawa Senators in Calgary when he learned of the trade and admits he's sad to be leaving his teammates, the city and the many fans who showed him such great support over the past 11 seasons.
"I knew a trade was a possibility, but I still really didn't expect it to happen," admitted Fisher. "There's a lot of mixed emotions. I have so many great memories here and a lot of hard goodbyes to do, but if I had to pick a city to go to this is obviously the best choice."
Fisher has already heard the comments as to how his wife, Carrie Underwood, played a part in the trade at which he couldn't help but laugh. Underwood, a country music superstar spends much of her time in Nashville and having Fisher play for the Predators will definitely simplify their life, but the young couple was more than prepared to make it work with both living and working in separate cities.
"She was actually really sad when she heard the news," said Fisher. "If she had to choose she would have wanted me to stay in Ottawa. She knew I had played my whole career here."
Fisher admits it was "really tough" saying good bye to his Senators teammates and he wishes them all the best and hopes they turn things around sooner rather than later.
