I'm posting this in hopes that Carrie Underwood can learn about the story of one of her fans, Alexis Quance, who is fighting childhood cancer.
Alexis is a 17 year old who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in December, 2012. She lives in Fredericksburg, VA and receives treatment at VCU in Richmond. The first two regimens of chemotherapy were unsuccessful at curbing the growth of the cancerous leukocytes and unless she goes into remission, a transplant is not a possibility. The doctors just recommended a new chemotherapy, FLAG-IDA, but insurance will not cover the costs. The protocol is approved for adults and she is considered a pediatric patient.
Funding Life Foundation, was established to provide financial and emotional support to families who have children undergoing cancer treatment. The prognosis is not very encouraging at the moment, so it is critical that we assist this precious family in their time of utmost need. Carrie’s tour is taking her to Richmond, Virginia during the time that Lexy will be getting treated for her third round of chemotherapy. If there is anyway that Carrie can raise awareness and support for Alexis and her family it would be a monumental and life altering memory in the lives of a multitude of people, but most importantly, Alexis.
