'Idol' album sales: Crystal Bowersox, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia, etc.

Four Tuesdays into January, and album sales finally are starting to readjust from the post-holiday letdown. In fact, two of the four American Idol albums on The Billboard 200 -- Carrie Underwood's Play On and Fantasia's Back to Me -- actually saw sales increases this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood close in on sales milestones

Two Idol tracks close in on milestones this week: The Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson duet, Don't You Wanna Stay, is this week's top Idol seller and just 10,000 away from a half-million downloads. Carrie Underwood's even closer to her next million-seller: Undo It comes in 1,000 short, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Both are sure to make their marks next week.

Also, Carrie's Temporary Home more than doubled its downloads from last week. Surely that's not all as a result of Paris Tassin singing the song during her audition?

I don't care if it's at 999k. I'm calling it Platinum. Carrie has another Platinum single! Wahoo! That's 2 from the PO era, which tops the CR era!

And I didn't even realize that MS is nearing 350k. I'm actually impressed by that. And I think Carrie owes a big, ol' thank you to Paris Tassin for a portion of that 12k sales of TH!

What a great week for Carrie in sales! Increases in all 3 albums, increases in her 2 slowest sellers of the era, a newly-Platinum single, and even an increase in BHC!

not sure about JTTW. You are right though-- So Small is also on pace to go platinum at some point, though that could take another year maybe, depending on how much it sold over Xmas.

But LN is very very close.

What about Just a Dream? Is that close?

LN was at 981k on 12/12/10. At 1k per week, it would be at 988k. Perhaps 995k if there was a Christmas sales bump.
JAD was at 914k on 12/12/10. At 1k per week, it would be at 921k.
SS was at 908k on 12/12/10. At 1k per week, it would be at 915k.
JTTW was at 1702k on 9/19/10. At 1.5k per week, it would be at 1730k.

So from what it looks like, LN will be next to hit Platinum, with JAD and SS following closely behind. I'd love to see JAD and SS cross the Platinum status because I think they are a couple of Carrie's finest singles to date.

Doesn't look like JTTW will be hitting 2x Platinum for quite some time.

wow just 20 k? just one performance of it CMA fest or for SOMETHING SOMEWHERE and in just one or two week-it'll be platinum in no time.

how many does she have at the moment

for example Mariah Carey has
22 gold
9 Platinum
2 multi platinum & 1 multi Platinum ringtone All I Want For Christmas is you so it'll go double platinum as a digital single in christmas season 2011 making it her 3rd after Fantasy & One Sweet Day with Physical and digital combined fantasy is as 2.909.000 and One Sweet Day is at 3,170,000 between physical and digital and if her next album is done correctly she could get another platinum single and a couple more gold and a couple more number 1's to surpass the beatles but that won't be out until at least Spring 2012 when the twins are a year old
