Carrie should get some Billboard Noms, right? the Billboard Calendar year is up, and she was one of the biggest country sellers. She will lose to SWSRN-- of course- but I want to see her at least be nominated this year.

That's the fighting spirit. lol.

^ because it is based solely on sales. lol So since SWSRN outsold Blown Away, Carrie won't win. It is pure math. lol But I would like to see Carrie get nominated anyway.

Sad thing is this: If Red were listed as Pop instead of country-- as it should be-- Carrie would win a Billboard award this year for Best country sales. She would have won. what a farce it is that Red is listed as a country album. Complete disgrace.

Well how do you feel about WANEGBT being the top country song of the year..... on second thought, don't answer that. :)

P2 has done very well for himself.

He sure has. I can't wait till next season.

On the other hand I'm a bit worried for Scotty. Even though his Christmas album has done well, I expected that it would do better. He's going to have to come out with a really solid album next year to make sure he gets lots of radio play.

I also wonder how much going to college is going to effect him in regards to promo and having the time to make a great album. Plus, he needs to find his niche outside of sounding like Josh Turner

I didn't think of that.

I hate to say it but I also think Hunter's rising star will make it harder for Scotty.

I just hope he comes out with a fantastic album.

I agree. Right now Hunter has the buzz from his multiple Grammy noms, plus the success of his singles, and good reviews as the front act for Carrie's tour. He's eclipsing Scotty. That plus the recent success of the slightly older male stars like Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Kip Moore, etc, I wonder if there's room for Scotty.

Well, without Country support, his debut album managed to sell Platinum. If he manages to keep his fanbase in tact he will be more than fine, though that's difficult.

I think that going off to college at this point in his young career is a big mistake for Scotty. And, as I have said before, and been laughed at before, P2 still has a great shot at being the biggest to come from Idol since Carrie.

The numbers seem off to me. Are they US sales only? I remember reading something that Adele sold over 25 million (I think worldwide). Carrie has reportedly sold over 15 million.

And this explains Country Music's inane acceptance of SWSRN. Sorry I had to edit my post.

Just one note on this list. Apparently this list only includes artists who released their first album during the last 10 years. Whether that would make much difference in the list is anyone's guess.
