'Idol' album sales: Jennifer Hudson, Mandisa, etc.
By Brian Mansfield, USA TODAY
Though Jennifer Hudson has the only album from an American Idol alumnus in The Billboard 200 for a second week, Idols still have a presence throughout the chart.
Kelly Clarkson's duet with Jason Aldean, Don't You Wanna Stay, is part of Aldean's My Kinda Party, which is in the top five 33 weeks after its release. Carrie Underwood has duets on Brad Paisley's This Is Country Music and Randy Travis' Anniversary Celebration, and her Undo It is included on Now That's What I Call Country Volume 4, which debuts at No. 14 this week. Jordin Sparks makes a guest appearance on the Big Time Rush album, BTR.
Judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, the Aerosmith frontman, also are represented on the chart. Mandisa, despite a 47% increase in sales of What If We Were Real, falls just outside the top 200. Scotty McCreery stays on the country chart with 2,000 sales of his American Idol compilation, according to Nielsen SoundScan, but a similar set from runner-up Lauren Alaina falls off that chart this week.
Idol albums
Jennifer Hudson, I Remember Me (7,000, -4%, 356,000) (#94 Billboard 200)
