Called "Family Tree", it's a semi-autobiographical song, built on the themes of empowerment and survival of someone having to break out on her own.
It's been named by Rolling Stone as one of ten best Country and Americana songs of the week (alongside better established artists like Sam Hunt and Parker Millsap). Although it's unlikely to please Country purists (mainly because of its vocally soaring Pop/R&B-styled choruses), the verses show a strong Country influence, and It might appeal, for example, to the audience who liked the Dixie Chicks/Beyoncé collaboration at the CMA. It's from a forthcoming full album, entitled "Coloured", and I found this track an impressive contribution.
