I just don't understand how some songs I've never even heard of are top 25, and songs that only got 3 weeks as well, yet not JTTW or BHC which were huge, and we all hear still to this day

here's how they determined the list and why it's so screwy
Methodology: To determine the Top 100 and account for drastically
different methodologies over the years, songs were ranked by inverse
points for every week within the top 15 (i.e. 15 points for a week at No.
1, 14 points for No. 2, etc.). Points for all songs that peaked prior to the
monitored era, when chart runs were typically much shorter, were adjusted
proportionally so the average points of all reporting-era songs equaled that
of all monitored-era songs. Finally, bonus points were given to the top 10
songs from each of the five 10-year spans covered by the charts.
Creating a ranking that accounts for multiple chart methodologies across
50 years is admittedly difficult, if not impossible to perfectly balance. As
noted above, the ‘90s boom – arguably the most pivotal time in the format’s
history – is underrepresented for a number of reasons, the least of which
is methodology. For starters, the industry operated quite differently in that
span – songs moved up and off the chart in a span of weeks, not months.
Also of note for all eras, this list is a reflection solely of current airplay in
the moment. Recurrent and gold airplay – the test of time, if you will – is
an altogether different measure, one that may actually be impossible to
quantify as far back as 50 years ago. Nevertheless, the final Top 100 offers
some discussion-worthy insights.
It should be no surprise that the 10-week No. 1 “Live Like You Were Dying”
leads the list – one of six inclusions for McGraw. Rascal Flatts also landed
six on the Top 100, but they are both eclipsed by Toby Keith’s eight songs.

They've published the rest of the chart as part of a "Fifty Year Top 100". Here's where Carrie ended up...

37 JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL
88 WASTED
95 BEFORE HE CHEATS
How did BHC end up so low? Wasted made the list but LN, AAG, and BA did not? This is weird…

I think it maybe has to do with those songs only being out 20 years so there’s 30 years they weren’t out, and maybe radio was different those years as well. I’d like to think if this was just the last 20 years, they’d all be much higher

That doesn’t explain Wallen…
