Can't wait for Some Hearts to go 7.3 million. TBC will hit the 400k next week, going Gold in probably 3 weeks, Blown Away should go 2x platinum in 3/4 weeks, hitting the 1.9 million mark next week. BHC on its way to 4 million. :)

I was kind of close:

TBC 42k vs 44k (my guess)
BA 36k vs 32k (my guess)

Pretty close. It took really long for TBC to climb on iTunes, it would only make sense for it not to have a big boost. I bet this week sales are gonna be way bigger. How much do you think BA could sell this week? 50k-60k?

Thinking about the Grammy's boost - remember that Carrie performed during the last 30 minutes I think, so not as much time for her to get any digital sales, especially anywhere but the Eastern time zone. So, her Grammy boost is definitely coming next week.

I'm going to make an educated guess soon. I've taken snapshots of the iTunes popularity chart, about every 24 hrs, and made note of the sales for the #1 song (which is 389k this past week). I'll post my guess for BA and TBC this weekend.

Thanks. :) I can't wait to see Rihanna sales. She has a nice lead right now and could outsell those 389k. I think 50k is a lock for TBC.

Amazing. Thanks for posting, Pi. Carrie sells like hotcakes and she still manages to get big bumps like that. Several big bumps were due to low sales, when you're not selling much, it's easy for you to have a big percentage bump, but not exactly in sales. Carrie's still at the top. :)

Confused. I thought the sales week ends on Sunday. The Grammys were Sunday, so how is it a Grammy boost? Thanks.

It does. It's still possible for the artists to get sales bumps right after their performances. Since Carrie performed really close to the end, her boost was not that big. I believe she performed around 10:40pm... and the show ended 11:30pm, so people had basically a bit more than one hour to buy her material. I'm glad they did. :D

Guys we were so excited to have Jesus Take The Wheel hit 2x Platinum after 6 years and Cowboy Casanova to hit 2x Platinum after 4 1/2 years when Blown Away is gonna be certified 2x Platinum in less than a year...let that sink in....Yeah never thought about it that way

Not completely relevant but...

Best Seller Artists (by September of 2012)

1- Rihanna 55.000.000
2- Taylor Swift 50.000.000
3- Katy Perry 48.200.000
4- Black Eyed Peas 42.405.000
5- Lady Gaga 42.300.000
6- Eminem 42.290.000
7- Lil Wayne 36.788.000
8- Glee 31.000.000
9- Beyoncé 30.439.000
10- Kanye West 30.242.000

So I suppose Carrie should be somewhere in the Top 20 and the second-highest Country artist.

As for Superbowl's impact, Beyonce & Destiny's Child combined sold 28,000 copies of albums (+40%), and 280,000 copies of singles (+68%). Madonna sold 22,000 copies of albums (Down from 26,000 copies) (The iTunes pre-order number was around 50,000 copies for Madonna in the previous week, and 10,000-20,000 for the week after), and 331,000 copies of singles (Up from 209,000 copies) last year.

The top-selling album this week sold 145,000 copies only. Both overall album sales & single sales have dropped this week.

That list is outdated and does not include features, however.

So Rihanna also has stuff like "Love The Way You Lie", "Live Ur Life", "Run This Town", "Fly", "All of the Light", "Take Care", "Princess of China", etc.

Taylor Swift has stuff like "Two Is Better Than One", "Both of Us", "Half of My Heart", etc.

Kanye West has stuff like "E.T.", etc.

Beyonce has stuff like "Telephone", "Until The End of Time", "Put It In A Love Song", and all Destiny Child's songs.

On a side note, Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now", which is of course the biggest-selling Country digital single of all-time, has passed 6 million copies in sales! Taylor Swift's "Love Story" is far behind at around 5.55 million copies sold. The biggest-selling single of all-time digitally remains as the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" with more than 8 million copies sold, with ADELE's "Rolling In The Deep" racing from behind.
