Weekly Album/Track Sales, Week 55, Blown Away Era

I guess I'll start this thread for last week's sales. Carrie's BA album was in the top 50 in one of the earlier HITS update but failed to make the top 50. There were 12 debut albums and a number of albums that debuted last week, making it difficult for BA to get into the top 50.

She didn't eventually make the Top 50 on Soundscan either anyway. So it's possible for us to see a 500-1000 copies drop in sales this week?

bummer. I guess it is the tour and lack of visibility that is hurting her, and the single really hasn't kicked in yet.

I really wish they would have her perform on the Voice Finale. She needs one more push as the summer sales are always bad anyway for everyone- as there is no tv on but re-runs.

Daraebe said the album is discounted on iTunes, so, let's look forward to the boost, even though is must be a small one.

Well isn't this only the second week since the album came out that she hasn't made the list???? I'd say that's pretty darn fantastic given that most other country artists are out after just a few weeks on the chart. I'm confident that she'll return to the list and it will be for many more weeks.

ITA. I've actually been surprised that she's been on the list so long as stores have really cut their album shelf space and it's not easy to find BA in stores.

As you say DaisyTweets, compare HITS this week for other country artists.

The Band Perry - album released April 2013 - 14,457
Tim McGraw - album released Feb 2013 - 11,656
Taylor Swift - album released Oct 2012 - 10,377
Luke Bryan - album released Mar 2013 - 9,888
Brad Paisley - album released April 2013 - 8,451
Jason Aldean - album released Oct 2012 - 7,963

And isn't it interesting that on your list Opry, its all men. So there you once again have Carrie the only woman among all those men.

^^Taylor Swift is a woman :p as is Kimberly Perry (not to defer from your statement that Carrie's accomplishment is impressive, it definitely is, just pointing it out ;p)

There are two men in The Band Perry, and The Lord is gender-neutral.

It just seems like everybody is selling rather weakly.

Ive been keeping up with country album sales and from albums released during 2012-2013, Blown Away is #1 with Night Train being #2 with 1,212,000 and Tornado at #3 with 863,000...So even though they are quite poor, for this day and age its about as good as your gonna get

Kimberly Perry is the LEAD in that group. The two men are like her backup singers/musicians. She's Gladys Night and they are the Pips. IMO, she's a huge reason why TBP is so successful. She should be given credit for being a successful woman in country music since she is the lead. Not equal like Lady Antebellem, I think Kimberely has a much larger role in TBP then Hiliary Scott has in Lady Antebellem. Kimberly works her butt off as lead whereas Hiliary sometimes just fades away.

I like Kimberly and the Band Perry alot. But I do think her voice can be a bit pitchy at times- live. However- I LOVED their performance at the ACMS. It was FIERCE!

The BA era is about done. It still will hit 1.5 mil but I doubt they'll do a fifth single unless her sales go up to 8k+ again. And that's not to say this wasn't a successful era...bc it is. Look at how poorly recent albums are doing. Brad is already down to 9k a week! The Band Perry is at 15k a week. And that's with the album that followed If I Die Young.

^ Agree! I dont think they release a fifth single, if SYA not sell well then nothing will sell well, maybe GIG but I dont see another single from BA.

Well that is terrible news if true. I wanted a 5th single so badly-- because not only are there amazing songs on the album that no one will hear, but we will not get a new album from Carrie till late 2014 or spring 2015-- at the earliest. She could take even longer this time for all we know.

But what we do know- is that she will not be able to start the album till 2014 due to Sound of Music.

So if the album era is suddenly "done" as you guys say-- then we will not be getting new music for at least a year or likely much longer.

That is way too long for Carrie to be off the radio. They need a 5th or 6th single to stretch this era out so Carrie can focus on SOM. If they do-- she can eventually get 2x platinum certification for this album.

Stopping the album now would destroy any chance of 2x platinum in the forseeable future (it will take years otherwise) and we won't get a new lead single for over 1 year, possibly 1.5 years or more.

Carrie should not be off the radio for 1.5 years with the competition she has. So they really need to think hard and stretch this era out longer.

The album has only been out 1 year: why would they cut it off already? If they do-- they are crazy as it is not a good idea for Carrie to be off the radio that long. She will fade and lose hype, letting Miranda/Taylor/Kasey and others run laps around her as they release albums and singles like people change shoes.
