2021 CMA Awards

In all honesty, I was just happy (and surprised) she was even nominated. It's been 3 years since the release of 'Cry Pretty'. Would not think a Christmas album and Christian album would give her a win over artists who released country albums within the time period and were played on country radio.

If Carrie has a career like Reba, and I see no reason she wouldn't. I think there's still chances to win coming.

The issue is the only woman to win that was older than Carrie was Loretta and she was 40. Reba was 31 at the time of her win. Realistically, time is running out quickly.

I didn't enjoy the show this year. Especially without Carrie and Brad hosting. I REALLY miss the '90s. I just don't care for so much of what's out there right now.

I will say, my favorite part of the night was when the crowd went nuts when they announced "Dangerous" in the Album of the Year category. I thought that was pretty hilarious.

Yeah, but Reba did win Entertainer in the '90s at the ACMs. She must've been around 40. I think it could still happen.

She was 39, I believe, so yes, still possible but we’re against a clock. Next year needs to be big. We have the residency, IIDLY, and a new album that smashes with a tour needs to come soon.

So, a surprising end after a near Stapleton sweep. Just not a good one.

Hate to say it, but I think that was Carrie's last chance, it will be the Combs award for the next half a decade. That's a damn shame if it happens. She should have won in 2012, let alone now. She did get the biggest applause when her name was called, so everyone knows who should have won.
The award shows have something against Carrie. That’s always been evident. She never won FVOTY most of the years when she was the biggest star (not woman, star) in the genre.

I noticed Carrie was walking out while everyone else was up dancing as Luke was singing at the end
I hope and pray she is done with these award shows finally. They’ve never been kind to her. We know she quit hosting after they used her for ratings, but she should boycott them all together.

Yeah, this really says a lot about these shows and awarding women, not just Carrie. No woman has won in 10 years, where there were years that a woman definitely should have won. Terrible.

I'm convinced that someday they will be inducting Carrie into the country music hall of fame while tap dancing around how she never won the CMA EOTY. Given the sexism and ageism built into the industry its a lost cause at this point. At the end of the day it really doesn't matter because she has without a doubt had a stellar career and she's nowhere near done yet but it is frustrating.

I'm not one to advocate no showing because that's just counter productive. She should use them for promo and call it good.

I didn't expect her to win, but I am still disappointed in these awards.

For those who watched, how was Luke as a host? I saw a few tweets that Brad and Carrie were missed.

I am also disappointed that these awards are so sexist. For only one woman to win is just so sad. I really don't listen to country radio so I don't even know if they play more women now than a couple years ago.

In all the years of the CMAs, women have only won the award four times. Shania, who absolutely dominated in the 90s/00s, only one it once. This isn’t about success. It’s about money, label politics, and sure as heck not awarding the women who deserve it

Luke was bad, the monologue was poorly written and delivered. Just horrible. He's not cut out to host at all.

Of course they gave eoty to a man, a man who's been around about 4 years. When Carrie had been around 4 years all they could say is she hasn't earned it yet, she needed more time. It's absurd how much the CMA voter base does not like her. But she should not boycott them or any award show. How childish would that be. As long as they give her opportunities for promo she needs to take advantage.

One word. WME

Screw the industry and their total sexism.. Carrie now just has to continue outshining them all, after all her legacy is now defined in cement,

Her residency now will be huge, . An award is an award, (even though EOTY was hers) the real DIAMOND is her stellar career... She will be a legend.....

I agree. No need to boycott the show, just go on and continue what she is doing... Like I said she outshines the whole industry when it comes to demanding the stage.... Her voice is her instrument....

Carrie is for her fans period.....

I agree she shouldn't boycott the show. Milk them for promo and leave. I wouldn't even bother sitting in the audience.

In the end these awards really don't matter. I know they are special, but they can't sustain a career. Carrie has one of the strongest fanbases in country music and will be having amazing album sales/ tours for many years to come. And the CMAs cannot do a thing about it.

Solo women have won Entertainer 8 times and 9 with the Dixie Chicks winning.
