Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting

I cried during the speech too. All the prayers by all the different religious leaders were amazing too.

^^ That Westboro Church is off their rocker. They need to go down already. If they dare to picket at the funerals of these sweet innocent children, they deserve whatever backlash they get, and more. Talk about disgraceful, evil people.. Let people grieve in peace.

To blame Carrie or gays for what happened in CT is as ludicrous as you can get.

I agree it's not already sick and terrible enough what happens to those beautiful little babies and those adults that died trying to protecting many others. The families have to deal with these sick Disgusting worthless people who are no better than the shooter if they picket at funerals sorry if this offens anyone it just sickens me that people can be this heartless. My heart goes out to anyone affect by this any I pray for the families of those who lost their babies.

I was listening to the Blown Away cd tonight, and Carrie's song "See You Again" just hit me like a ton of bricks. What a hope-filled song!

twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

Thank you guys for this thread.
Thanks for the poems above.
I have held my heart and soul away from this tragedy cause it seemed too much to bare.
IT's Christmas. And I didn't want to take this in.
But I know I have to.
And the poems above have given me a small oportunity to try to open my heart to it.
I have not cried yet, but I know it's coming.
And it hurts to even start to feel it.
The children are truly blessed to be with their heavenly father.
But the families are left behind. And it is thier grief that is so hard to take.

So thanks again for this thread.
A place I can come to when I am ready....

I had to stop watching or reading any info about this tragedy as it breaks my heart to look at my two youngest boys whom are the same age as the ones that were lost and try to think, that it could happen to them as I just cry. It was hard for me to drop my little ones off at school yesterday but I know all I can do is hug them a bit tighter and make sure they know I love them

A parents burden is heavy indeed.
I am not a parent so it is hard to imagine how you ever let them out of your sight at all, ha ha.
A big "God Bless" to all the parents out there who are looking at their children alittle differently today.

My aunt was VERY nervous about dropping her youngest boys off yesterday. She said there's always a security guard but she said he was A LOT more aware of EVERYTHING.

It's so weird... this was only minutes from my house, and I know of so many connections to the victims... I haven't slept or ate well in days. One of the professors is the mother of one of these children, my cousin goes to Sandy Hook, my friend from work went to Sandy Hook and lives directly down the street, and the Principal who died graduated from my college. It's just so surreal, and still hasn't sunk in. Hearing Connecticut on the news so much for all the wrong reasons is just so hard to take in...

This all just really sucks.
