Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting

Paisley summed it up for me when I saw the news conference after the massacre. It reminded me of the shootings at Columbine, Jonesboro and VA Tech. God bless the entire state of Connecticut, and the entire community of Newton, from the teachers and faculty, to the parents of the victims and those who survived.

Just saw the video of Blake and company singing "Hallelujah" on The Voice.
The song always chokes me up, was played at my grandfather's funeral in 2008, and since then, every time I hear that song, it just gets me.

It's so weird... this was only minutes from my house, and I know of so many connections to the victims... I haven't slept or ate well in days. One of the professors is the mother of one of these children, my cousin goes to Sandy Hook, my friend from work went to Sandy Hook and lives directly down the street, and the Principal who died graduated from my college. It's just so surreal, and still hasn't sunk in. Hearing Connecticut on the news so much for all the wrong reasons is just so hard to take in...

This all just really sucks.
I'm so sorry for you.
We are all with you,
The whole country is trying to figure out how we can wrap our arms around you and tell you we hear you and care about you.
Hang in there, and try to find the random acts of kindness in it all.
Thats the only thing that will slowly begin to heal you.
Much peace.

Top Conservative Publication: Shooting Occurred Because Women Ran The School | ThinkProgress

Stuff like this are awful.

Conservatives are blaming gays, people who support equality, the existence of working women, children not owning & using guns, 'kicking God out of schools', and just today I read one saying it's because we teach science/evolution in schools! They're just totally using this incident to just go against everything they dislike.

Ok, so the National Review wrote an article. The National Review isn't the only 'Top Conservative Publication'. I trust you didn't post this article to portray all conservatives in one category and all liberals in one category. :)

Great article! I wanted to say, keep doing what you are doing. Keep making them be polite, be courteous, show kindness to other, etc. We need more people like him who want their children to be remembered for how great they were.

I went to Costco on Sunday and I heard this little voice saying "Don't you work at my school?" He then told me he wasn't sure because I wasn't wearing my glasses :) But I left there knowing that because I had been kind to him in the office he remembered who I was. I don't remember doing anything special . . . he was so funny, he had to take me to meet his grandma. I have been very aware of making sure this week to be kind to everyone around me, even when I am standing in a LONG line. I think we all need to be a little kinder, gentler with those around us.

Well tbh I don't know the National Review until I read this, not that I know what the top conservative publications are. But witnessing thoughts like this emerging from minds to actually be organized & written, and then be published is already sad.

Tbh, that is what I thought, however I just wanted to be sure and I agree the author of the National Review article is -- well, I won't say -- and for the powers that be to allow the article to be published is more than sad --

EDIT: While I no longer work in Washington, D.C., I was shocked that this supposed article came from the National Review -- I thought ok, I've really lost touch with what they write, therefore I decided to investigate this because I just couldn't believe the "National Review" would write the article mentioned in the article you posted. As it turns out, there was an article in the National Review entitled "Newtown Answers - An NRO Symposium". There are 7 pages and there are many people who wrote on "Newtown Answers" -- it just so happens that the first person on the list, after a short introduction regarding the article by National Review, is Charlotte Allen, author of The Human Christ (and I do not know of this book at all and I don't want to know quite frankly). These 'views' are listed in alphabetical order of the person who wrote each one. While you may or may not agree with the other writers on this Symposium -- NONE of them say the things this woman said at all. In my opinion, this person should not have been included in this smyposium -- however the article was not written by the National Review.

In any event, here is the article in full if you would like to read it:

Newtown Answers - NRO Symposium - National Review Online

I truly wasn't trying to pick a fight with you or say anything disrespectful and I hope you did not take it that way -- if you did, I apologize. I used to read many, many publications from all sides of issues or tragedies or whatever was going on in the world when I worked in D.C. and I just found it surprising that the National Review would write such an article as was mentioned in your post. In my opinion, it was misleading to say the National Review wrote that article. Oh well...again, if you felt I was out of line in my first post to you, I am very sorry because I certainly did not mean to be.

I wasn't offended or upset by your response to my first post at all. If my tone had been negative I want to make sure you know nothing was directed to you. I was/am just sad about the whole situation, especially with twisted opinions being thrown out which surely have worsened the whole situation.

Thank you for the link. I certainly don't fully agree with all the other people but I definitely agree that there wasn't anything as outrageous as the first one. Even though one of the articles did try to, for some reason, blame the existence of abortion. And it seems there was one trying to equate watching porns to shooting children...But anyways.

It isn't very accurate to say they wrote the articles, but they did make the editorial decisions.

I know that...I know this is such a horrific, sensitive situation -- I have two children of my own and two grandchildren as well. I just cannot even wrap my head around what happened, little lone have to worry about sending my grown children to school...but the thought of my grandchildren going to school just scares me to death.

Just so you know, I certainly don't agree with all of the other people either....however the absolute ridiculousness of that Barbara Allen one was just crazy. Abortion and porn as the cause...horrible as well. Same as the WBC deal -- crazy, dumb, stupid.

Yes, they did make the editorial decision to run the pieces written by these people that were the symposium and I guess they should have made the editorial decision to remove these offensive pieces from the overall article. I guess when you have a symposium of people....oh I don't know -- I wouldn't have put those pieces in. I guess my complaint with the article you posted (not you posting it, but the article itself) is they took a bit of creative license to trash a group on the opposite side they are. And again, I'm not saying you shouldn't have posted the article...I'm just saying it would be nice if journalists would write the whole story instead of what gets them more readers and more headlines and all it does is pit the far right against the far left and vice versa. Makes me angry and very sad...

Sorry mods...didn't mean to take this into politics....I apologize.

Does anyone else think that Ann is the nicest person in the world? Seriously, you're part-angel, part-kitten, part-rainbow, part-unicorn and part-sprinkles!

Now I apologize for going OT. And giving y'all cavities :')

Thank you so much...you just made me cry...and I have the ugly face when I cry. I'm just a regular person who tries my hardest to be kind...I don't always succeed, but if I'm ugly to another person, I try my hardest to make amends because that is not how I was raised -- to be mean or unkind -- if I'm unkind or mean to someone, my first thought is I must pray -- then what would my Mom and Dad think and commit to try harder -- and then to my children and grandchildren, again, commit and try harder -- and then to Carrie and Mike, commit and try harder -- and to my wonderful friends here at Carrie Fans, commit and try harder.

I love all of you -- you're part of my family and I truly mean that!!!!!!!! <3
