Carrie will not be at this year's Grammys

She's not going because she'd rather be working on the new album. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I had a bad feeling this would be the case after her blog. She acted like there was nothing going on at all in her life right now of importance enough to blog. That is a bad sign.

That really sucks though. I don't understand what is going on lately? I know this decision does not have anything to do with Miranda as Carrie is a nominee and could still go. even if she knows she will lose. But I don't get why she is blowing off every award show lately.

To date, Carrie skipped the AMAs, the PCAS, and the Grammys. Considering that she is not really doing anything right now, I am confused as to what the scheduling conflict is this time? If she keeps skipping every award show, it makes me wonder if she just doesn't care about all this anymore? I hope she is not going to take an indefinite leave of absence or quit music or anything drastic like that. (and please don't bash me for saying that-- usual suspects- I am just speculating here).

I think she just decided not to go. She has off indefinitely with no plans, so she must just not want to go to award shows anymore. I guess I can't blame her given the results. But still. It sucks for us. We definitely need some good news around here and soon.
That's what I wondered too. She may have bad feelings about these award shows right now...and is just going to lay low, prepare her album(slowly), sing at the Opry in March, do her couple of summer things........be with Mike.....and stick it, to everyone else. (Not us, the fans).

Yeah, Carrie is probably all tired out from award shows after the two horrible snubs from the ACM/CMA. She's probably worn out and rather just sit this one out and I don't blame her. So long as she is working on another album, I'm happy.

I kind of hope she skips the ACMS too, on principle. lol Why not? She is skipping everything else, anyway, so why not skip the one award show where it would really make a statement with her absent? I hope she does skip it.

I think she may have just said she has a scheduling conflict to be polite. Maybe she just doesn't want to go, and she doesn't want to say it that way as it comes off harsh. She knew the date of the Grammys for almost a year, so surely, she could have planned around it. She also said she has no plans for the entire year really, as she is taking time to write and work on the new album. Very strange.

I just can't imagine skipping the Grammys, ever, if I were a nominee, even if I knew I would lose. It is an honor to be nominated.

i feel like theres a lot of things you'd do differently compared to carrie; however, your not so...

Yes, it really does suck for us, but I just think it is a "time out". We don't know how long that time out will be......but when she's ready, she will come blazing back!!

Well I think if Carrie was retiring or not going to make music anymore or for a while she would have told us that. I don't think that is the case at least for now. She said she was writing for the next album so I think she will be doing another album. Just may be a while before we get one.

If Carrie doesn't feel like going to the grammy's, I will respect her wishes. No sense in going to an award show if it's no fun for her anymore. She deserves a break anyways.

Although there are many people there that do not win awards or perform, I think these award show may be a little boring unless you want or need the few minutes on the red carpet exposure, sometime you may just want to skip.

I don't blame her if she wants to skip every award show right now, given how things are going. It must be hard to sit there and smile when you are treated so badly by your own label.

EDIT:
Ok I just checked her post, and she never actually said she had a scheduling conflict. She just kept it vague, that she is unable to attend this year.

So that tells us nothing really, and leaves all theories open to discussion. lol

Can't say I'm surprised. My guess is she figured she has one nomination and she's probably going to lose, so what is the point in going? I can't blame her. I'm not even planning to watch the Grammy's this year. I mean, Katy Perry nominated for album of the year? Justin Beiber best new artist? It's going to be sucktastic.

TH still has the chance of winning it...
I've seen some blog post, where half of them are predicting for Carrie to win the vocalist category too...
And this category will be announced in the pre-telecast, so there's still hope to win...
TO BE HONEST...Carrie's vocal is just WONDERFUL in Temporary Home...
Of course i know they don't judge by vocals nowadays, but Carrie still has the shot.

Can't say I'm surprised. Carrie said herself she wasn't even planning on going last year until they asked her to do the MJ tribute. She did? I never heard about that.

Where did you hear that? I never heard that interview. Is it recent? It just seems like an odd thing for her to say, unless she knew Taylor was going to sweep everything. But she took Mike with her last year, and she also performed at the Clive Davis party, so it seems like she had plans to be there well in advance last year.

In fact, I saw an interview from Ken Ehrlich, the producer who worked with Michael Jackson, on youtube talking about the MJ tribute and how they planned it all out. He said they picked the people for tribute well in advance, and called Carrie on the phone to ask if she was interested, months in advance of the Grammys. It was planned for a long time, even before nominations came out.

I actually like some of Katy Perry/Justin Beiber's music just not in love w/ them or fanatical about them. Definitely won't be screaming if Justin B comes out like those teenage girls do...lol.

I think there is a simple explanation. Carrie now has something more important to her at home. Certainly she will still go to the ACMs and still be co-hosting the CMAs (assuming she is asked). But beyond that, she is going to choose being with Mike over attending awards shows.

No one is screwing her over. They can't forbid her from going she's a nominee. It's her choice.

Edit: My post now makes no sense since the post I was replying to was edited. :p

No, your post makes a lot of sense because you are telling the truth.
