CP #72 on iTunes which means people are PREORDERING!!!
Oh PLEASE do not compare Carrie to KB. Every single one of KB's #1 singles was bought and paid for by her label. Every one of her singles were on the charts for weeks and weeks on end.The sad harsh reality is that the men in country music can release the ABCs and whatever trash they like and radio will keep giving them number ones. Carrie and other females are scrutinized on a case by case basis per song- and the judges are backward old guard pricks.
Even Kelsea is struggling on radio this era whereas she got number 1s for her debut album. I guess radio is getting even worse towards women instead of better. So much for Salad Gate. No one cares. Things are getting worse- even for Carrie.
It’s a pretty disappointing start to a new era.
Very much so. At least Sony pushed her singles to #1or 2.
^ I don't think it has anything to do with people getting the single instantly when pre order the album because The Champion should be climbing as well and is not happening.
I think people are just seeing CP the album up for pre order and is like free promo for the single.

I think what happened here is a combination of many things... it was like the "perfect storm" that made CP Carrie's lowest peaking radio single. I think it's fair to say the song debuted fantastically (ACM performance, #1 on Digital Songs) but then quickly died out. It remained below 100 on iTunes and was no where to be found on the streaming songs charts. I don't think it connected with the general public like a real hit. However, A TON of songs that don't sell/stream well hit #1 on radio... and they're all from male artists. Sadly, I think CP was "too female" for country radio programmers, which is a shame and makes no sense at all. I really thought UMG would get this to #1 up until a few weeks ago when Luke shot past her. So I blame country radio, UMG, and the song itself (melodically, it lacks for me despite the great vocals). So again, a perfect storm of factors... EXCITED FOR LOVE WINS THOUGH!
They better not release next single on wednesday too. I still don't understand why CP was released on wednesday.
I agree. But, UMG is GREAT in stocking CDs for its artists in Walmart and Target. Sony Music is bad in stocking CDs on these store's shelves. I monitored all of Carrie's albums in all of these stores where the locations are around thirty minutes drive from where I live. Carrie's albums were always out and it took a long time for Sony to replenish and to re-stock Carrie's CDs. And the marketing and promotional activities of UMG for Cry Pretty album is outstanding so far. And they are going to rollout a BIG PROMOTIONAL PUSH.

So you think most people that aren’t diehard Carrie fans won’t be turned off by all of the glitter tears that’s being used to market the album & this era? This is just my opinion, but I have a feeling most people will take one look at the album & the glitter tears & decide not to buy it because of that cover alone.Sorry, but that isn’t what I would call outstanding marketing.I’m trying to look past all of that & just focus on the music after hearing how good it is but it’s not easy if most can’t see past any of the glitter tears& glitter in general. Her diehards won’t care about that marketing, but most of the general public might if they’re just casual Carrie fans. This may not be true for everyone, but I have a feeling that the general public may not like that whole aspect of the marketing for this album so much. But they do seem to be rolling out a huge promotional push to really get the album & Carrie’s name out there. That’s the part they seem to be doing really well on for me.I’m still not crazy about the glitter tears aesthetic, but I’ll try to look past that & focus on the quality of the new music which seems to be shaping up to be her best music yet.

Just out of curiosity, why do you all believe UMG pushed Luke over CP? Isn’t it possible that his “perfect for summer” summer jam had natural momentum since it was released and didn’t really need any assistance on the charts from UMG at all? Can UMG tell radio to stop spinning a song that they weren’t even really pushing? Or is everyone just trying to accuse UMG in any which way they can?
