Weekly Album Sales, Blown Away, week 27

Considering the debut was higher, shouldn't we expect a bigger drop then? Sales must have been really frontloaded.

She was indeed very front-loaded in her first week. This is the breakdown:

Day 1: 500.000 copies +
Day 2: 100.000 copies +
Day 3: ~ 150.000 copies
Day 4: ~ 150.000 copies
Day 5: ~ 110.000 copies
Day 6: ~ 110.000 copies
Day 7: ~ 110.000 copies

Day 3 and 4 & Day 5, 6 and 7 have the same respective numbers because there were no daily breakdown for those dates. My estimates are, she's indeed sold similarly on day 3 and 4, but lower than 150k copies, with the first two days taking away around 50-100k copies from them. For Days 5 - 7, 6 should be the peak as it was a Saturday; Sunday should come in second as it was a Sunday. Normally Sundays sell better than Saturdays but Hurricane Sandy was starting to affect the East Coast at that time so she might have lost some sales over there.

I believe "Speak Now" did around 400 - 450k copies in its first day.

Normally albums open with 3 to 3.5 times of their first day sales (With the first week being a 6-day instead of a 7-day week), so if you look at her first days sales, she obviously is highly front-loaded (Even "Fearless" opened with a 210k copies first day with a under 600k copies finish.). To compare, Carrie's "Carnival Ride" sold 150k copies in its first day to sell 527k copies for her 6-day week; Britney Spears' "Blackout" sold 126k copies to finish a 280k copies 6-day week; Miley Cyrus' "Breakout" sold 110k copies (The same as Sugarland's "Love On The Inside") and finishing around 380k copies, with Sugarland closely behind; Madonna's "Hard Candy" did 100k copies with a 280k copies finish, while Chris Brown's "Forever" album did the same with I believe a 220k copies finish; Lil Wayne's "The Carter III" did around 460k copies in its first day with a million copies' finish; Britney Spears' "Oops!...I Did It Again" did 500k copies in its first day to a 1.3 million copies first week. These are all off the top of my head so I could be off. But if you look at her sales in the subsequent days, she basically stabilized after the first two days, which explains why she didn't tumble in her second week. Also, if we consider only her official singles, "Love Story" increased in its second week (It did get an off-cycle release in its first week, but off-cycle releases such as ADELE's "Skyfall", Lady GaGa's "Judas", Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)" all decreased in their first full week), "Mine" tumbled in sales after its off-cycle release but didn't tumble all that much, and very obviously "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" didn't even lose its #1 position on iTunes, Hot Digital Songs and on the Hot 100 - Its harsh sales drop was only brought by its gigantic first week. "Begin Again", "Ours" and "Today Was a Fairytale" (It dropped from #2 to #22 on the Hot 100 subsequently) were the only droppers as I don't think you can count "Back To December" with it not being announced as the second single at the time. (I forgot what was the drop for "White Horse") So it's not like she always drops big time.

As for the more important star, Carrie Underwood, I believe this means a re-entry on the global chart yet again! I hope they do something overseas with Christmas approaching...For example, the UK goes CRAZY during the holiday season! It's something they really shouldn't miss.

BA Album sales

awesome! 900k sounds so much better then 800k. lol

Watch she gets to 1 million followers around the same time she sells 1 million cds. They better have Black Friday sales!

Best Buy is completely out of Blown Away, sadly. They have lots of her other cds but no BA. :(

Mine too, plus 2 nearest Walmarts have zero BA. One Walmart did have 1 PO and 1 CR.

It looks like Rod Stewart will have the biggest Christmas album this year.

yuck another week of SWSRN. She needs to go down.

Aren't there any new albums coming out that can beat that wench? Whatever happened to the Big fall releases???

^Tee calling TS a wench is actually a compliment..well at least from Tee

I think there is huge money in arranging a UFC cage match between Tee and TS - tickets would go for hundreds, maybe over a thousand for ringsides seats. Imagine the revenue from pay per view sales. This could be Huge!!!!! Of course TS would have to wear red. You know what happens when Tee sees TS in red :p
