Weekly Album Sales - "Blown Away": Week 31 (Alicia Keys #1)

Over the weekend I was in 2 Walmarts, 1 Target and 1 Best Buy. Little or no Carrie CD's in stock, except one Walmart had just one CR CD, Target nada, nothing not one Carrie CD, and Best Buy only had one BA CD and 3 CR CD's. Carrie is missing sales Big Time IMO because of low stock, 100's of Red in all 5 stores.

Unfortunately in a new world of marketing and money making, companies like target and walmart are going to have lots of the one thing they know people will buy and few of the vast majority of everything else.
It is all planned and researched in advance.
I have always believed that retail companies underestimate Carries selling power. But as long as Tay can move as much product as she does, it is very hard to argue with thier logic.
IF I had a store front and only had specific space for Cd's what Cd do you think I would have front and center.
Unfortunately I would be feuling the beast. But it's become very difficult for a retailer to break from the norm and have a vast variety of product to choose from.
Point: When I go to Pavilions to buy detergent there are only two, Tide and Ultra (I imagine they are both from the same company) But thats it. A huge isle of product and its All TIDE!!! All of it!
Thats just how it works now. IT's cheaper and easier for the retailer to stock and pay for.
That is the Taylor Swift effect.
But one day it won't be her anymore.
Just like it's not Hannah Montana anymore either.
Unfortunately this effects Carries sales. It just does. She gets sacrificed.
I guess we can count ourselves lucky that she is still a pretty strong contender when it comes to sales.
She does amazingly well.
But it feels like, when the cd's are gone, they are just gone. And so sales drop off.
WE are going to see lots of Red sales cause there is not much else out there to buy and people are now programed to buy whats in front of them.
I bought TIDE for the first time in probably 20 years (its way over priced), why? Cause it was the only thing there!!

None of the stores here had BA in stock after Black Friday. As a matter of fact I couldn't find a single one so I STILL don't have a physical copy. Might have to order it from Amazon. Wasn't there talk about Target getting a special release? Was that true or just wishful thinking?

I didn't hear about Target but Walmart will have the exclusive edition of BA that has the Good Girl bracelet. Since it's not going to be available until the 10th, the stores may not be restocking the CD until the exclusive edition is available.

Wow great numbers!! I was hoping for 20k after the black friday drop off. Very nice!

Great numbers indeed, specially when you look at Luke Bryan, that almost fell off the chart, and Jason Aldean, that sold only a few thousand copies more than Carrie. :)

AWESOME numbers. I imagine another drop next week, but not as big. As long as she stays above 10k each week for the remainder of the year, I'll be happy.

Wowza! I was hoping for 20K but after the first HITS update I lowered my expectations to around 15k. Why do I bother to look at the Monday Hits update?

Not bad! I think I said earlier that my highest hope for it was 25k, and she exceeded that! Good sales! Holding up well considering other discounted albums fell much further.

I want BA to see more than 1.25 million copies before I'm 55 and that's in January. ... "before I'm twenty" *shakes head, walks off to take coenzyme .*

I'd like to see BA sell more than 1.15 million copies before I'm 17. That's the start of January. :)

I would of have put I'm but I am trying to get out of the habit of using contractions, and not to mention contractions are not allow college papers at least not for English 1101 and 1102.

That's absurd. A lack of contractions along with using the passive voice is what makes most academic papers read like mush. Typical ivory tower intelligentsia crap. In the real world your writing needs to be compelling and immediate. Disallowing contractions is simply hubris. Most academics can't write to save their lives.
