Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 2

^ I agree about Harry and Luna too lol.

If you're like me and love the movies but never read the books, it's hard to buy that Harry married Ginny. Because they didn't get much of a story in the movies and also the actors have no chemistry whatsoever. Also it's rather convenient that both Harry and Hermione married Weesleys. I can buy the Ron/Hermione part because it has been set up well in the movies even though Emma has better chemistry with Dan than Rupert.
Even though I read all the books, I've never been a fan of Harry/Ginny. The movies didn't help either as Ginny doesn't have much screen time, and whenever she does, her acting was unconvincing to me (one of the weakest actors/actresses in the movies imo).... plus as you said, zero chemistry with Dan.

I agree with you all about Harry/Ginny. I was never a fan of them in the books and especially not in the movies, and that's totally one of the reasons I always hated the epilogue. Like I said, emotionally it seemed to work better for me in the movie than it did in the book, but I still think it was unnecessary and would've scrapped it had it been my choice. ;)

I can't wait to see the final opening weekend numbers! $40 million+ from just midnight showings is insane!

^ I know! How awesome is that? :D
They're saying it could go to $185-190 million if it follows the pattern of part 1 on Saturday and Sunday. And good word of mouth is getting people to watch it and those who watched it want to watch it again. So awesome.

Incidentally, what do you guys think about my review? I got such a huge response. People were like: you brought tears to our eyes. Some were iffy about my review before watching and then they were like: we agree with every word. Some didn't want to watch HP until they read it and some are considering rewatching because "my way wit words gave them goosebumps"
I never felt prouder. That and getting into med school :p

Some people are complaining about the way that Voldemort was killed. I thought it was much better than all that corniness in the book where Harry and Voldemort walk in a circle with everyone else watching. It started with just the two of them so it's fitting that they didn't make a spectacle of the end. Did they actually show the Avada Kedavra curse rebounding? I don't know what happened when Voldemort started disintegrating.

I loved the movie. I just wish that the King's Cross scene was longer. It was one of the most enlightening chapters of the entire series. The depiction of Snape's memories was amazing. Alan Rickman in general was just awesome. Hope he gets some award show love.

They did show voldemoorts avada kedavra curse rebounding back at him in the movie just like in the book. They just didnt say it out loud. They used silent curses in this movie alot which they were taught in the book.

In the end harry used a curse to steal voldemoorts wand from him called expelarnus ir something like that but he didnt say the curse out loud nor did voldemoort say his killing curse out loud.

But because harry was the true master of the elder wand the wand listened to harry not voldemoort. The killing curse rebounded back to voldemoort so he died by his own curse. Meanwhile the elder wand flew back to its true master harry.

Of course voldemoort would not have died if neville hadnt killed the snake.

I had to read the wand stuff in the book several times before i fully understood it. Lol

Ps i always wanted harry with hermione since day one but i guess that would be too obvious. Lol

Elie, I absolutely love your review. And like you, I'm hoping Alan Rickman and Ralph Fiennes will get Oscar noms for their work on this movie.

I've always loved the books much more than the movies. But this last installment made love the movie.

Just came back from the theater...what can I say? I loved it. I had to control myself from crying several times. I had goosbumps the entire movie (the score is amazing, the music did so much). I litteraly never stopped watching the screen, not even for a second, I never looked what time was. Alan Rickman is just WOW! this guy needs to win at least one award for this character, he has been the best in the 8 movies. I have to say the entire part dedicated to his memories was the BEST and my favorite, so beautiful, moving, perfect. I dont want to post spoilers, so I will leave it like that for now. The acting from Daniel, Emma and Rupert was the best so far. I have so many things to say, but for some reason I cant put them into words right now lol.

I grew up with the books and the movies, I was 13 when the first movie was released and now I'm 23. They were a very important part of my life and it's sad to see it coming to an end, but I'm glad it ended so well.

^^ Yeah, this was actually one movie in a long, long time where I never checked my watch once to see what time it was. It wasn't a very long film, but it completely flew by.

I think the directing was superb too. He kept the suspense building at a good pace but he also just left a few key scenes quiet and peaceful so you could take it all in and really feel the sorrow and joy or suspense or relief etc.

I felt like the emotion during certain scenes was palpable. You could feel it in the air.

I went with my husband and stepkids to watch the movie Friday morning. It was absolutely amazing and I'm dying to see it again. I never fully cried, but came so close during some of the final scenes. I only have one or two friends that like Harry Potter so I'm hoping I can get one of them to go see it with me again. My husband likes them, but not enough for repeat viewings.

And it just made me even more excited to be going to the Harry Potter Wizarding World at Universal in October! :D

This movie was so freaking amazing! I don't even have words to describe how much I loved it! I loved every single second of it. And I didn't hate the epilogue! I was shocked, but I actually thought it was alright. I still think it was unnecessary, but I liked it. Haha. Everything worked with this movie. I'm going to see it again with my sisters on Wednesday. Yesss! Elie, I'm about to go read your review now, lol.

By the way, my favorite moment came from Maggie Smith when she smiled and excitedly said "I've always wanted to use that spell!" :D
