The good or bad thing for Paul Ryan is he will either get all the praise if they win or he will get all the blame if they lose.

IMO by accepting the VP bid he screwed himself out of ever being president, if they lose he will never get a future nomination for the GOP and if they do win then go on to a 2nd term unless things go beyond great either party is going to have a VERY HARD time getting three straight terms now a days.

Just keep in mind with the section of the running mate in Palin did for the republicans chances in the last election. It hurt it BIG TIME! She's one of the reasons McCain lost. And Ryan could bring the same bad luck to Romney this time around!!!

You might take this as "I'm attacking you", but it seems you come here to start stuff. Every thread, you come in with an attitude, unwilling to listen to other opinions, as you think yours is superior. You've always got a questionable agenda. I know you're a huge fan of Carrie, and you do contribute often, but could you just be a little less argumentative?

The point of this thread was to discuss Paul Ryan, not to trash talk previous presidents.

I see your point, but if he is idealistic and wants to truly decrease government in our personal lives and decrease the deficit then perhaps he doesn't care about the presidency if he accomplishes his agenda. He seems intelligent and knowledgeable but I think it strange that Romney picked him, Am I correct in pointing out that vice president candidates have little to do with election results and yet why do I feel Ryan will? He seems to be strong and outspoken. If you believe in his principles or not he seems to stand and defend them well. When I listen to him speak I don't see a back seat driver, I see much more than a VP candidate..lol..it just seems like a duet presidential team

Vice Presidents can be huge deciding factors in the election results. John McCain single handedly handed President Obama the presidency when he chose her.

I vowed to never comment around here anymore, but I just have to. First you do realize that he is going to decrease the budget first by giving another big tax break to the wealthy & covering this extra reduction in income by cutting medicare, medicade, the department of education, the department of transportation, the EPA, veterans benefits & food stamps among others. In other words, a tax break for the wealthy balanced on the backs of the middle class & the folks that really need those benefits he is willing to cut.

And you are no doubt aware that this policy wonk that has been so involved with balancing the budget & pushing all these cuts, still won't balance the budget until the year 2040. That is 28 years of suffering for the folks in need while he & his rich cronies cop yet more tax benefits.

And, I have no doubt that you are aware that if his budget plan were in effect now, that Mitt Romney would have paid .89% in taxes this year instead of the 13.9% he did pay. Is there any wonder why "I've got mine, the hell with the rest of you" Mitt Romney is on his side?

Oh & here is one other little tidbit. Mitt refuses to release his tax returns but even according to the lady that was doing the vetting for VP, they "Mitt & The Committee" required all his candidates to release multiple years of their tax returns to him.

This pick by Romney was nothing other than an attempt to pick up more support from the far right wing nuts that have put this country's best interests aside while they have done everything possible to stop anything that would have helped. In the words of Mitch McConnell, 2 days after the election..."Our major effort will be to insure Barak Obama is a one term president." And he & the Republican caucus have set out to do just that no matter how much it negatively affected any attempt for this country to move forward.

The Republicans continue on this path of trickle down economics. It has never worked & there is no evidence that it ever will.

Even Fox ( the mouthpiece of the far right) News just last week, had a new poll out that showed Obama ahead by 9%. I expect that when the public gets a face full of what Paul Ryan is bringing to the table, this % is going up!

Oh and BTW I was talking about Ryan in the above post you replied to. The point of it was Romney's choosing of this man might have been as big a mistake as when McCain chose Palin!!!

This is exactly why we should not have political threads on this site. It clearly caused trouble. Back to supporting Carrie now! This is to busy of a time in her career to argue about such nonsense as Romney's runningmate!!!!!!

Me calling you a "do do head" was in response to "I've been here longer then you".

It was pure sarcasm.

And on that note, you're not much fun to joke with. Good day, my friend!

Well Ron, we will have to agree to disagree on some of the points you made because I truly believe there are two sides to this and many could argue their points successfully. I am not "a right winger" but neither am I an admirer of Obama's administration. There is as much evidence that Ryan's plan could save SS and Medicare as there is that it would destroy it. And speaking of saving Medicare have you looked at the agenda for Obama health care that would gut it to pay for his affordable care. It is not what it seems to be. I respect your point of view but I feel there are arguments for both sides. My only concern is that government not take over the individual freedoms that this country was founded on. Obama seems to endorse those ideas and it scares me. Personally I don't trust any politician whether they are Dem or Rep. My only reference to Ryan was it is strange because he takes the spotlight off of Romney, just a strange take on it. I could be wrong but that's how I feel. Most politicians are liars and we have to do some hard searching to find the truth if at all.

Amd also Ron in reference to the tax break, Ryan plan was to cut taxes across the board and to reform the tax code so that the rich would no longer have their loop holes to avoid taxes. If this were to happen the increase of taxes on the rich would be enormous. This I could agree would raise tax revenues and help the middle class. I think sometimes we tend to not take in to account the whole package. Something has to be done with our enormous debt, we are going broke and then there will be no SS or Medicare at all. I don't care who takes care of it (Rep or Dem) but someone better step up to the plate or it will be too late.
