FIFTH single from BA - speculation thread

This was posted over at Pulse:

I believe Carrie mentioned in the Helton countdown show that she was through with releasing anymore music for this era.

Anyone catch the Helton interview to confirm or deny?

Uh, that was me that posted that on pulse after hearing what she said. I might have interpreted it wrong, so my
apologies if a 5th single happens to pop up in the near future.

I think this is what you might have interpreted wrong.. I'm not really sure if she meant no new single or no recording new music. hmmmm
Carrie: No New Music in 2013 | Country Countdown USA

If that report is accurate, it definitely says "not working on new music" (which is not the same as the more abbreviated headline "no new music"). When an artist says "working on new music" they almost certainly mean, writing, reviewing new songs for future inclusion, working with producers, doing studio cuts). None of that would apply to the existing album, which has been in the can for a year or more and in that sense is already "old" music.

Whether or not another single is taken from "Blown Away" is a matter for the record label - and I don't think any clues on that are contained in that interview (even assuming Carrie knows yet what they'll do). If people are concerned about fitting in public performances or promotion - that would be a separate issue, but wouldn't be likely to be described by the phrase "working on new music".

No I listened to the interview. She was clearly talking about no new album or writing new music till after som. A 5th single is not new music.

She said she will dive right in and buckle down to write new music after SOM. she was not talking about a 5th single- as that is not creating new music. She was referring to diving right in to write NEW music. She was not talking about releasing an old existing song to radio as a 5th single.

Besides-She never mentions the new single while the current one is climbing.

Releasing a 5th existing single to radio does not require Carrie to "dive right in" and create new music-- the song is already on her existing cd and requires no effort on her part to release it.

It is crystal clear what she was talking about: the new album. I don't think her comment can be interpreted any other way.

But that still doesn't mean we are getting a 5th single! Lol All it means is that she did not shoot it down in this interview.

"Diving in" refers to working on creating new music. You don't "dive in" to release an existing old song to radio: your team sends an email to radio with the mpe. No effort required by carrie.

I would absolutely love a Christmas pack - the Tour DVD with extra bonus tracks (like WAW, GIG, etc.). That would be a great surprise!

Haha sorry- i wasn't directing my angst at you. Lol I just want a 5th single so badly. I will be really bummed if this is it when there are so many great songs left. Plus Miranda keeps getting 5 singles so there is no excuse not to give Carrie one. Lol

If you are sensitive right now, please DONT read this!! :

For the second single from Keith Urban's Fuse album, Keith and his team have chosen to release "We Were Us" to radio, the powerful duet with Miranda Lambert. Being promoted by both of the artist's record labels, "We Were Us" feels like a surefire chart-topping hit.

The label will promote both, All Kind of Kinds and We Were Us! And Carrie NOTHING!!! Annoying as hell!!

Keith Urban has a thread for his Fuse Album. Miranda has a thread too. Not sure if this fits here.

Freakin Miranda gets a 5th single every single time- yet Carrie outsells her 2-1. So no, you cannot justify or defend this decision as a business decision because Carrie's album sales slowed down. Miranda's slowed down to a crawl months ago- and Carrie outsells her in every aspect, downloads, albums, etc- yet Carrie gets cut off for both PO and BA, while Miranda gets 5 singles every time. Not right- especially since she has the Keith duet too. There is something very wrong with Sony Nashville right now- ever since Joe left- and Overton took over. It is not right how Carrie is screwed every time. And no- I do not agree with the theory that Carrie wanted the era to end. She always wants as many singles as possible to go to radio. Kelly Clarkson herself said the labels pick the singles - as well as how many you get. Artists have input- that is all. Carrie said as much once or twice too. She has said the label picks the singles, with me input from her. I am so sick of Miranda getting special treatment. So unfair!
