Award Season in 2017

Is it strange that I'm a 30-something guy and cannot wait for Harry Styles' album? Lol

I think "Sign of the Times" is brilliant and shows such a maturity. Loved "Ever Since New York" that he debuted on SNL last night too. I think One Direction got a bum rap simply because they were a boy band. They matured with each album and caught my ear with "Night Changes". Harry is definitely going to be huge as a solo artist.

At the moment I am enjoying Ed Sheeran's "Divide" and Lauren Daigle's "How Can It Be". Waiting on new Country albums by Chris Stapleton and Zac Brown Band, both due in May.

Sorry, somehow this turned into a music thread.

**Oh, and I prefer 21 to 25 as well Sur but I was just thinking after 2012.

Are you me? lol, I love Sign of the Times. AND, they caught my attention since "Night Changes" as well!! Although I did kind of like "What Makes You Beautiful". The whole Four Album was a shift that made me realize they had more potential than just being a boy band.. I actually liked it.

Ed Sheerans new album is also pretty great! Galway Girl has to be one of my favorites so far although I have to give the album a second listen. I hate "Shape of You" though and kind of hope Sign takes the spot from it.

Lauren Daigles voice is very soulful. I wish she'd make an album for wider audiences than just the Christian one.

Between Veep, Fargo, American Gods, Orphan Black, Archer and all the TV shows I'm yet to catch up on, it's clear that I'm not supposed to leave my house for a few months.

I've never been one to be into boy bands and it took me a while to get into Justin Timberlake's music, but Harry Styles has something special beyond looks and charisma. It's funny, when he was performing his first solo performance on SNL I felt like people must have felt watching Elvis and the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. It was historic.

I don't get, going back to 1D, why they seemed to get no critical respect when *NSYNC and Backstreet Biys did. To me, their music is much better (at least the last 2 albums) and individually are better vocalists. Unlike the others, I think they can all have solo careers.

For Lauren, I definitely think she could have success in mainstream but I don't know if she would consider it. Her album has been on the Top 200 chart for over 100 weeks I believe. Pretty remarkable for a Christian artist.

I realize I'm off topic with the last post.

But, I haven't seen 13 reasons yet. I just cancelled Netflix..

"13 Reasons Why" is so good! It is definitely heavy, extremely heavy and at some points hard to watch, but it is a wonderful show. Just have comedy ready to watch after!

Same for Justin Timberlake. Only when "sexyback" came out is when I ever considered his music. And then MANY years later with "can't stop the feeling" which in turn led me me giving his old song a try again and I kind of like it? "Cry me a river" isn't that bad. I actually missed the SNL performance.. I wanted to see it but was busy.. I will see if it's on youtube.

For some reason I feel like they're less hated or at least have less of that weird feel a boyband has. They are definitely better vocalists, although for two of the members, I think Liam and Louis, I haven't heard their voices. The other three have great vocals. I kind of want Carrie to duet with Harry on "Sign", but not sure if that will ever happen.

I believe Lauren actually expressed wanting to make a more mainstream album, but I could be wrong. She's probably the only Christian artist that ever caught my attention lol.. It sounded so much like Adele when I first heard her music.

Oh my gosh wth... how did I miss this? I dreamed of her acting in a series or a movie for Mexico. Although she might or might not in this. But, this is amazing! I'm a bit late.

Carrie Underwood's Song Two Black Cadillacs Is Becoming a TV Show | E! News

Yeah, this isn't happening right now. As you can see, the article is three years old. I don't think it ever made it past the script stage. The website The Futon Critic has updates on shows in development and this hasn't had an update since we first heard about it 3 years ago.

I missed a lot of Carrie news in 2014 because of life. But, it's sad if nothing happened. I was thinking maybe it's been put on hold because she had a baby and been very busy with albums and tours. Oh well. I got excited for a minute lol. Maybe it will happen eventually.

I was really into FutureSex/LoveSounds like 9-10 years ago. Even now I think it's an album that holds up pretty well. Timberlake's earlier solo stuff were sort of juvenile but they had good production. As for his current material, I liked a couple of songs from the first part of his 20/20 album and completely ignored the second part. He tries a little too hard to be funny in his interviews which is really cringey for me. But I will undoubtedly watch his inevitable future appearance on James Corden's carpool karaoke.

For a second, I thought this had escaped development hell. I don't remember if I had expressed this when the news came 3 years ago but I'm not very comfortable with the idea of a Bruckheimer helmed project. But I don't expect this to happen in any form anymore.

Sexyback still feels new. I don't like his 20/20 stuff as much. Maybe it's the nostalgia.

I don't care for Jerry Bruckheimer much, but the thought of a Carrie Underwood song becoming a series is one of the best things ever. Mexico should become a movie, though.

I like Justin. Some of his stuff is a little too big and bombastic and long for me, but he's had some really good songs. My favorite is probably "Cry Me A River".

I guess the critical acclaim I was referring to is Grammy recognition. *NSync and BSB were nominated for Grammys and One Direction hasn't received a single nomination. I thought "Four" and "Made In The A.M." were both great albums and should have receive some recognition, but then again, I thought "Storyteller" should have been nominated as well. Call me crazy. Lol

Liam and Louis can both sing. Liam is especially good.

I am assuming Lauren plans to continue what she's doing. There are quite a few great Christian artists that I listen to a lot. You can't find groups in secular music that can come close to the vocals of Christian groups like The Martins and Selah.

Here's the Martins doing an amazing acapella performance:
