Carrie will not be at this year's Grammys

Honestly, I think skipping the ACMs would make things much worse.

Well she didnt go to the previous ceremony where the country awards are given, and she was there all the 3 years before, so she probably knew something. Or maybe it was just because Mike was with her, because it was weird that she wasnt there to accept her Grammy for ITYS.

I think she didn't go to the pre ceremony because she was performing in the MJ tribute and not because she didn't think she'd win.

I think there is a simple explanation. Carrie now has something more important to her at home. Certainly she will still go to the ACMs and still be co-hosting the CMAs (assuming she is asked). But beyond that, she is going to choose being with Mike over attending awards shows.

So does that mean she may never go to awards shows agaiin outside of the ACMS or CMAs? Confused. Other married country stars make all the award shows and balance their personal lives too. Odd that she would have to choose between one over the other when she can easily have both, like the rest of us females with careers and relationships.

But if she is choosing to not care about her career as much, then I guess there is nothing we can do about it. I just look at Faith Hill and Martina, Brad, Reba, etc, and they all seem to have good personal lives but also make the award shows (if nominated).

Uh-oh - it's unhealthy for me to spend all my time with my husband, lol? :D I'm in trouble then. We can't hardly stand to be away from each other for a night and we've been married 3 years and spend most of our time together, lol.

Oh no, I'm in real trouble then, since I have been married for 20 years! Sometimes people are lucky enough to marry their best friend/soulmate! :p

Although I fully support Carrie's right to take her own decisions about her priorities, I can't help wondering if this is in her best career interests.

All award shows have their flaws, and may suck or be boring from time to time - but they are showcases for the industry. Just now, the record company is not putting Carrie forward to the extent they should be (as we and others elsewhere have said), and that seems to be giving her career a lower profile outside the loyal fanbase. All the more reason to be seen at these big occasion showcases.
Also, an artist's reaction to disappointing nominations, and even losses, gets noticed, with lots of internet comment. Those who are seen to react with respect and generosity for the other choices made earn more respect (I think Carrie does feel that way already - but showing it publicly to an unforgiving press and public never hurts).
Finally, being at the event can win you kudos with the voters, which can carry over into support for other years (Admitedly, that is based on the smaller audience IBMAs and AMAs, which love artists who are seen to fully commit to their formats - but it wouldn't surprise me if it cut some ice with the bigger award shows too)

Thank you. Someone sees my point of view at last. lol Some people constantly make me feel like I am a terrible person for simply wanting Carrie's career to flourish, while having a happy personal life too. lol I guess it is just that in this day and age, women no longer have to make that hard choice between a personal life and a career. We can, and do, have it all.

I think appearing at award shows is very important, especially those outside of country music. In Carrie's case, some of her album sales still come from her pop American Idol fans, so it is silly to blow off that format completely if you are nominated for an award- especially the Grammys.

I thought she would appear at the Dolly Parton tribute at least. She loves Dolly and now they are kind of friends after the Xmas special. Odd.

I am not 100% sure about this, but I read somewhere that Carrie and the other people participating in the Michael Jackson tribute were doing final run throughs of dress rehearsals during the pre-grammy award ceremony, so I kind of figured that might be why Carrie didn't go. Or, maybe she thought Mike would be really bored, and she knew Taylor was going to sweep the country categories anyway, so she decided to not attend? Not sure. We may never really know.

I honestly don't think that Carrie not going is a bad career move. She has gone every year - minus this year - since 2007, and sometimes it's good to take a break. I honestly have no problem with Carrie missing a few shows here and there...

Well to be fair to her Tee, we don't know that she isn't going to be at the Dolly tribute or Clive's party. She was asked about the Grammys and she answered. Maybe the Dolly tribute isn't going to be that big of a deal. Guess we need to wait and see if we get more details before hand and wait to see pictures on Saturday night.

That is a HUGE leap Tee. When did she ever say that or for that matter even hint at it. Please, the over the top reactions & speculations are causing much undo hurt & angst.

I don't really see what the big deal is. She has like .05 chance of winning, seeing as how her label will be tripping over thier own neck ties to back Miranda like they have with everything else. She's not performing so really what does it matter? She'll attend the ACM's and perform. I'm not really sure she's taking time off, but probably writing a little and getting ready for album number 4. Besides I would rather her take time off to be with her family/husband until she is refreshed and ready to put new stuff out again. She's had a lot of bummer things happen to her lately so maybe she just needs time to rest and get excited about the music again. I totally see nothing wrong with that. I want a killer next album, not one she just threw together so fans wouldn't freak out about her not being everywhere.

you crack me up. lol

I agree with you that maybe some of Carrie's desire to blow off all the award shows lately is due to the snubbing and how she might be feeling right now. Maybe she is taking a good hard look at all of this, and wants time to reflect and figure out where to go to from here. Being betrayed by your record label cannot be fun. I don't care what anyone says--- Carrie is not a robot or inhuman. She must be feeling something with the big let down and snub she has gotten lately. I am sure she knows exactly what happened too, as she is a very intelligent person, and she does have friends from 19 who may have talked to her about the label's sudden switching of priorities to Miranda. Maybe she is a little hurt or disappointed, and she just wants to lay low for awhile. I can totally understand that if that is the case.

Being backstabbed and betrayed by people you thought were on your side, definitely must hurt.

But she should be gratefull she is not poor Christina Aguilera right now. lol I have to admit I feel kind of sorry for her.

Carrie's first love is music......any awards are just icing on the cake. I would rather Carrie devote herself to good music than revolve her life around needing to win awards. I would rather hear one good song from Carrie than watch her win a hundred awards, simply because I know the music is where her heart is.

There is more to life than attending an award show, and I am glad Carrie has her priorities straight.

I didn't say anything different then cary and others said. They said she is caring more about her personal life, over her career right now. I said exactly what they said, pretty much-that she is not making her career a main priority right now. That is exactly what others said too-- that she wants to focus on Mike right now. People always jump on me for some reason. :(

Carrie has a life, and I think that sometimes we - not all of us - tend to forget that Carrie just maybe wants to take a break...which is fine. She had a huge tour last year, and that seems to take a ton of energy from a person. Like I said before, I have no problems with Carrie missing a few awards shows here and there...she can't go to all of them...

Tee, I think that you are reading way to much in to Cary's post.

Carrie is going to still do the Grammy's, PCA, AMA's etc..., but unless she is performing, presenting or up for one of the all genre awards at the Grammy's, she isn't going to go to all these shows like she use to because she is now married and wants to spend time with Mike and when the time comes that they do start a family she will even do less of these shows.

It's not that she doesn't want to enhance her career it's that Mike is far more important to her than going and sitting at any awards show.

I think we have to be careful and not be too judgmental or analytical of Carrie's schedule/activities, as we are not privy to every detail of her life. Carrie always manages to surprise us with "special projects". So, I think we have to be patient and enjoy such surprises as they arise. There's no point in worrying about things we are not privy to. We just need to be happy for Carrie and support her as she divulges her latest activities. We know she's working on her next album, so let's move forward and be happy about that.

Are we sure about this already? I was thinking it would suck big time if this year they decide to present Country Female in the live show. I think they change some of the categories they present live each year. But maybe if they were going to, Carrie would have gone.

You're right, they do change it up. They'll probably present one country category on the live telecast, but they do change from year to year which one it is. If that is the only award Miranda won, then they might show it.

So does that mean she may never go to awards shows agaiin outside of the ACMS or CMAs? Confused. Other married country stars make all the award shows and balance their personal lives too. I don't think Carrie is going to stop going to awards, but like someone said above, she is not going to go to every award show every year. No one does that. Carrie is established enough now that she will probably attend the ACM's and CMA's and attend the fan voted shows (AMA's, PCA's, ACA's, CMT's) when she is up for a lot or knows she has won or is performing. As for the Grammy's, Carrie went/performed/won four years in a row. No biggie if she skips this one to spend time with Mike if she's not performing. Why should she go just to get shown on the red carpet once and sit in the audience? The only people that get a boost from award shows are usually the winners and the performers, so if she isn't doing either of those, she would just be going for the fun of it.

I agree, and we are also going to have to acept that it's possible she was not asked to attend.
Clearly her label wants Miranda to be front and center. Carrie being there will generate alot of buzz especially in the aftermath of all the snub talk.
Every person nominated for a Grammy does not go. They won't all fit.
If she was not going to have a bottom seat on the main floor. What would be the reason? She might actually look strangers sitting in back.
Big stars don't just go and sit in back. Seating is very well planned out.
I see more label crap. And I don't really care. We all know she can't be at everythng for the rest of her life.
I would rather her not go than be a back seat to a lesser singer anyway.
Stay home and watch with the rest of us Carrie. You can come to Carriefans and we'll throw popcorn at the screen.

I think the difference is this time - it's not like this is the AMAs or PCAs or something. Those I can totally understand skipping. But the Grammys are the biggest night in all of music, and like the Oscars, win or lose it's an honor to be nominated.
