I never heard a hiss either. Perhaps I was too wrapped up in Carrie's singing etc and praying she didn't trip etc to notice. Lol

No hiss when I watched live, nor is it there on my DVR. I still watch that one rather than On Demand. I like the live, unedited version which I will continue to watch even though I have the commercial free DVD. Love this show.

Maybe there was no hiss because you were not looking for it or any other flaws and just enjoyed the show. When it comes to Carrie, her personality just blurs away any "road bumps" in her performances. She truly is an artist that I can get lost in time and just escape. For this we are blessed and noone can ever take that away from us.

Merry Christmas CU Fans.

I never heard any of this stuff people have mentioned either - hisses or music too loud or such - I have watched many times and I still don't know what anyone is referring to when some one has mentioned these things. Not getting on to those that have mentioned it I promise but it is lost on me because I still can't figure out where these issues are, even after many times watching :).

Obviously it could be missed since so many said they did not hear it lol. He talked about the fountain making noise is all I remember and it sounded like a fountain. And don't tell me some on here don't listen for every flaw lol because we know they do lol - go back and find the comments after every single performance. The mic had a problem or the sound system had a problem. I mean I could imagine that once or twice but some say it after every single performance.

No, he said that. I watched it just this morning and I still don't know what you are talking about.

I learned a long time ago, there is the general public way of listening and then there is the Carrie fan way of listening lol.

He did mention the hiss. He said it was because the nuns mic was in there hair under their habit. They couldn't hear the music where it was placed at first. That night, live, the main place that I noticed that the music covered Carrie's voice, was in The Sound of Music. He also mentioned that , not specifically Carrie's, but that they learned alot about that particular problem. I haven't read his comments in a week or so, but that's the way I remember them.

Listen the DVD is called Live and you can see it right on the label. They fixed a couple obvious things but it could hardly be considered taken off the live show if they reengineered the whole thing for our fans. People can simply choose to not buy it if it is not to someone's liking.

I never said you were not a Carrie fan if you DID and don't twist this around. Again, there is the Carrie fan way of listening and the general public way of listening. We know it was live and if it is not perfect enough, then just don't buy it period. I just am so tired of all the complaining after every performance Carrie has so complain away. Carrie and every venue she has performed in must have the worst in the business in the way of sound people because every mic is off and the sound is always off or the feed over the computer or tv is off. Oh forget it, because after 8 yrs I know this is futile. I had hoped we would someday listen to something, and some of us enjoy it, without all the complaining but it is not to be :(.

These days, everyone has to have an opinion about everything.

I love that Carrie took on such a risky role with TSOM, and that she gained so much respect.

People can have their opinions, but at the end of the day, your opinion is your own.

Sometimes I feel like people in general focus too much on what others think, and they forget to enjoy the moment and make up their own minds. You don't have to listen what anyone else says when you know what you believe.

Social media can bring out the absolute worst in people, and they think they can be nasty because they're not interacting directly with someone.

I think it says a lot about Carrie's character that she took on a role like this, knowing a lot of nasty, hurtful things would probably come with it.

She is the epitome of class, grace, and hardwork.

I think Carrie herself is sending us a powerful message; don't miss an opportunity because other people want to bring you down.

Live your life for you, not other people.

Carrie is a breath of fresh air next to people like Miley and Beiber; she doesn't complain or whine about privacy, say outrageous things, or live extravagantly. Carrie has set herself apart because she lets her talent and personal beliefs speak for themselves; she knows her talent is what will get her noticed. There are so many people out there who could take notes about being a celebrity in the public eye from her.

Thanks for posting the link. Now I know what everyone, including Neil Meron, was talking about the day after the show. I just checked my DVR. That sound is not on my recording, but my son said it is on his.

It is not complaining, it is a conversation that was brought up. We were explaining the possible reasons for things, that the man himself said! I'm sure Donna loves the DVD, she is one of the most dedicated fans. As for me loving it, I just bought my 10th! Thought of someone else who would appreciate the gift.

I think I remember Carrie saying in a few interviews back when started out that she did not know what to do. She said there are no books on how to be a celebrity. Well I think she needs to write that book now.

Wow, thanks so much for posting this.

You know, I really did not hear that in my TV. It may be the way different tv's speakers are.

I admit that the sound lended an air of "liveness" to the telecast. But Wow, my viewing of it was not like that all.

I can see how distracting and even disappointing that would have been.
I am going to put my dvd in right now and see if it is there.
(I'll be Back!!)

InDepth InterView: Craig Zadan & Neil Meron Talk THE SOUND OF MUSIC: LIVE!, PIPPIN Movie, Oscars 2014, Upcoming Projects & More - BWWTVWorld

PC: Exactly how much of the show was staged and prepared before you even started rehearsals? Did Carrie Underwood start earlier than everyone else?

NM: Well, in regards to Carrie, she knew that she was the neophyte of the group, so she worked extra, extra hard. And, when she showed up for the first day of rehearsal, she knew the entire book for the show and she also knew the entire score. She had been studying with a vocal coach and she went to Salzburg herself to research the actual Maria and the Von Trapps.

PC: What was your reaction to the negative criticism of Carrie's performance, both armchair observers and critics themselves?

NM: I think that when you have something with as big an audience as we luckily had for it, people are going to have a lot of opinions. It's just the world that we live in. As for Craig and myself? We couldn't have been happier with Carrie. We are very, very proud of her and we stand behind the choice of her casting - everyone on our team, including the Rodgers & Hammerstein people, are totally, totally thrilled with Carrie and her performance.

I totally agree with this, and to slide slightly off topic but in regard to this "new phenomenon";
I have been really of set by this whole Duck Dynasty thing, and the comments and the arguing and it has really affected my days for the last two days.

And that is really pretty sad.
We live in a world now where we go on line every morning and read the headlines, and God knows what we are going to read!
But then the comments and the comentary and the arguing become such a passionate offspring of it.

I must continue to learn what is worth taking in and what is not worth taking in.
IF I read comments I am only going to disappoint myself, cause all I am really doing is looking for people to justify my feelings, and that rarely happens.
So I come away disappointed and my day is started off poorly. And I really just has to do with my willingness to take on public crap.

Now as for Carrie and TSOM, I think my fears and concerns that it would be a disaster was so far reaching that I was actually really peasantly surprised with how well everything went.
OF course people whined and complained. But I can choose not to take that on.
She recieved literally thousands and possibly millions of positive comments.

That is what I am choosing to take away from this...

As for Duck Dyansty, well, If I am the point from which all sin should be defined, than I think you are all going to be fine when you go to meet your God.

Except Phil, he is going to have some explaining to do!!

I agree!!! VERY WELL SAID!!!

I will say it again ...... Let us ALL, ENJOY and CELEBRATE!!! The TWO executive producers (Neil and Craig), TWO directors, MUSICAL director (David Chase), the CAST, etc. WIDELY ADMIRED Carrie and VERY PROUD of Carrie. ONE of the KEY ELEMENTS of being a "Carrie Underwood" is strikingly simple: "Good old-fashioned BEST and HARDEST WORK and DISCIPLINE, DEDICATION TO IMPROVEMENT, and continually building her EXTRAORDINARY NATURAL TALENT for the FUTURE - WILL TAKE YOU A LONG WAY. It's pretty straightforward stuff, easily within the grasp of SOME artists. The bad news is that - creating a "Carrie Underwood" requires "HUGE QUANTITIES" of : "Good old-fashioned BEST and HARDEST WORK and DISCIPLINE, DEDICATION TO IMPROVEMENT, and continually building her EXTRAORDINARY NATURAL TALENT for the FUTURE". There are no shortcuts. There are no magic potions. There are no work-arounds. To build a "Carrie Underwood", you've got to be ready for the long, hard pull. Success is never final - it is just the start of a NEVER-ENDING JOURNEY of DISCIPLINE, HARD WORK and the PURSUIT of an "ever-higher standard of EXCELLENCE".

Finally, and perhaps most important of all, it means Carrie, working with a DEEP and ABIDING RESPECT for ALL the members of this organization and "THIS ORGANIZATION". For it is through the power of HUMAN ORGANIZATION - of individuals working together in COMMON CAUSE - that the bulk of the world's BEST WORK gets done.
