"Dirty Laundry" on the Billboard and Mediabase Country Charts

We better get a 5th single....

I feel like once they announced that The Fighter was going to be Keith's next single and they will make sure Carrie's name is all out there since she's on the song, that threw out the potential of us having another single from this album era. I hope I'm wrong, but I feel this is what is gonna happen.

I hope that is not the case. I just don't feel like this era is over yet, but I think Sony dropped the ball a little bit, CB should have been the first single, and chaser and relapse should have been released to pop radio.

Sony is the blame. End of story....

Carrie has an awesome career no matter what... The fact is, the label is not totally loyal to her....... Mother always said business is business and facts are facts. Fact is, Sony failed by 0.52K...... Lack of promotion on getting their number# star the BB.....

It was so obvious from no ad last Monday that they did not plan on pushing last week. If they had made actual plans to push, and make a good push, then we would have gotten number one. Mad at Sony so much right now.
Yes!They were just gonna lay there and let KU have another week till it became obvious that radio wasn't going along. By then BS had the jump on them and they were playing catch up the rest of the week.Taking Sunday off obviously didn't help.

and I agree with you Tee Carrie is well aware of how the charts work and where her songs are on them.

anyway DL drops to #2 this morning (-137 spins/-.529 AIs)

but SN has 4 artist in the top 10, they must be so proud

I'm still not jumping for joy over The Fighter. I still think Sony dropped the ball on Dirty Laundry to make room for this song that just isn't even country and not all that good in my opinion.

^ DL's chart run was in no way impacted by TF, DL was peaking.
SN just got lazy and didn't do the math.

Well, once again we got the proof that a Carrie single isn't a Carrie single if it doesn't get screwed at the very end of the chart run. Carrie's radio streak remains impressive and we can't be too mad (look at poor Miranda Lambert for example, whose lead single didn't even crack the top 10), but it's still very frustrating.

I really hope for a 5th single, but I think we'll never get it.

I don't like TF, that line "Your precious heart is a precious heart" really bothers me. Lazy songwriting at maximum level, I still can't believe someone had the nerve to put it in a song. The whole track sounds like EDM music to me, I can't bear it.

JUSTICE FOR CCA, with a BADASS video for God's sakes. We didn't get a proper MV this era.

The only argument I would give about not having 5th singles is that usually 4 singles for Carrie almost guarantees 4#1's per album era. Now there is no way to look backward but I think the fact that she has the history of #1s that she has Sony and her team may be just protecting that by not saturating each era with a whole lot of material that only has marginal impact.

I will say I do not agree with this necessarily. But you have to admit that if she did 5 or even 6 singles per era and only 3 or 4 got to #1 it would not look as impressive as her stats do right now. And looking back, there is no great loss to her career for not having them.

I would love them cause I think radio would love it and I think the material is easily strong enough to add to her catalog of successful singles. But I think that may be at least part of the reason they stay firm in only releasing 4 per era. (I think ITYS was different cause I think there was a lull that radio and sony needed to fill in general and they extended Carries run cause it was a cheap way to keep her present with AI that season giving Sony more pubic exposure. A 5th single this time would do little except give the public another 2 months of amazing carrie vocals.

Has The Fighter been officially announced yet? I see Keith and Carrie are performing together on the Grammy Awards.

Carrie put so much time and effort into the Storyteller era/tour, that she is probably ready for a little break. She still has her other ventures that keep her busy -- Calia, Almay, and who knows what other projects she has up her sleeve. I'm okay if we do not get another single, personally. She did say she was going to start writing again after the holidays. She has also mentioned that she'd like to do a gospel album -- I wonder what the timing of that would be?? Also, would love a Christmas album! I'm hoping this year, like I have for the past decade! lol

For me, the Mediabase vs. Billboard handling by the label is likened to a football team that scores a touchdown but foregoes the field goal because "we got a touchdown" so "we don't need the extra point". Any competitive person knows that you don't approach winning like that. You go for everything with your full heart and soul. This "Mediabase is enough" approach by Sony seems sloppy and irresponsible. And it has happened enough times that it seems like a consistent, flawed strategy. I know that I sound like a spoiled, ungrateful child and I don't mean to be that way. Carrie's career is unprecedented and her radio support is undeniable. I'm forever thankful for the longevity and level of success she has achieved. But she is an artist that deserves it and has earned it. Had the Billboard mishap occurred once or twice or three times, I might think it was just an uncontrollable fluke. But the repeated scenario seems like deja vu and I wish somebody at the label would figure out how to stop this from happening again. We need to play to win. Always. Go for the touchdown and the field goal. One without the other isn't enough and Carrie deserves better.

There is no doubt to be if it was one of their male artist she would have gotten both BB and MB #1s.

I don't see why we can't have one more single while she works on a new album. Granted it doesn't sound like she will begin writing for a bit. Carrie takes so long between albums. Which is totally fine. I just wish there were a 5th solo single to hold us over.

The eligibility period is actually the previous calendar year, so anything released after January 1st shouldn't weigh on the nominations
It's not about the eligibility period. Actively having a single and some promo will help keep Storyteller fresher in voters' mind during nomination and voting periods.

Well this really sucks that she missed billboard. I think when it comes to Carrie she pretty much gets up the chart on her own and Sony doesn't have to put as much effort into it so they're pretty lazy when it comes to her.

I wouldn't mind her missing the # 1 spot if it gave the label the flexibility to take risks and release the hidden gems on her albums. But we loose on both ends because they don't take the risks but they don't push that hard either. I don't see it getting any better as I figure they use their "goodwill" with radio to promote their up and comers instead.

Does anyone have any way to contact Cary outside this website? I looked on his profile and it says last activity December 1...that's concerning to me...I do miss his chart insight and commentary
