Still kills me this album wasn't nominated for album of the year at the Grammy's (country) or the ACMs. Not just because she is obviously still one of the Top 5 selling artists in country music, male or female, but because it is undeniably her best work to date. I won't really hold out hope, but I hope that by some miracle the CMAs are able to realize the error of the other's ways and give CP a nomination for album. For that to happen, though, they need to release a couple of heavy hitters for singles so it can garner some attention. Of course, there will be the tour going on as well, which will hopefully help. I'm just going to have to hope that Carrie's team is going for the awards in late 2019/2020 instead of the mess that has happened so far this year.

So Kacey won album of the year at the Grammys for an album that has barely sold any copies at all. I am sorry that is beyond ridiculous and insulting. Especially when Carrie doesn’t even get one Grammy nomination.

It's about the quality, not the amount sold. Plus, that's not including streaming, so she's probably close to Gold status.

Quality in the arts is subjective.
and since have the Grammys been only about quality?Imo not in my lifetime.
Mostly , at least now, it's about who can influence the committees the most to get those final noms.Play the game baby!

I think big part of the AOTY at the Grammys is the buzz, you have to create a lot of buzz and Kacey's label did it with all the reviews, and sometimes Grammys love to give the award to someone that almost nobody know and make a slow boring album, it's a great combination for the Grammys.. they like to do things different to others all genre awards shows.

So...Carrie hasn't been a quality winner?

Look, quality is not a perfect metric to winning, of course, because it is subjective, but to say it hasn't ever been is not fully accurate. I kind of doubt Kacey and her team have more influence than Carrie and her team to win Grammy's. Carrie is obviously a much larger artist and has a much wider reach, so I think quality has something to do with it, because I don't think Kacey and her team could actually lobby to win Album of the year on their own, if it didn't at deserve it a little bit.

Carrie is queen to sell that much without radio. Go girl! So happy for her. That's so fantastic.

You can't really say she hasn't had radio. She still had a top ten with CP (song). She doesn't have as much radio support, but she's still being played.
