^Agree, Faraway. I visit this thread and love the information/stats relative to women in the industry. I enjoy going back to the initial posts (2017), moving forward reading various articles and watching for meaningful change (which shows improvement but minimal at best). The RS article about Grammys was particularly interesting.

Why does this thread exist? It’s not like any other women matter apart from Carrie *shrug*

Considering it’s Carrie FAN site that's to be expected. Fan sites rarely have pages dedicated to talking about less known artists and others in general. Carrie fans is rare in that way. We have some people who post pretty regular here so it makes no sense to wonder why this thread exist. Carrie fans is keeping it going.

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo just announced their lineup. Appears to be a microcosm of the world of country music. Only 3 females -- Maren Morris, Gwen Stefani, Becky G. The 3 Fridays won't be announced until Feb. 4.

San Antonio has Carly Pearce, Lauren Alaina, Becky G ?, Darci Lynne

what a pathetic showing for women. Should be at least twice that!

^SA is as bad as Houston. I was not familiar with Becky G, but she has had a #1 on Billboard's Latin chart (collab.w/Pitbull). She is 20 years old and is a successful actress, as well.

Houston's unfilled Fridays appear to be reserved for Pop. I was hoping to see at least one more female country star.

@CBSEveningNews

A new @CMT study finds that 7 in 10 country radio listeners want to hear more female artists, but only 10 percent of radio airtime is dedicated to them. “This conversation is far above male versus female. It’s about the music.”Here’s @NikkiBattiste cbsn.ws/39J4UtE
I saw this last night! It kinda made me stop in my tracks because I couldn't believe they were talking about this on the national news!!!

This tribute to Linda Ronstadt may interest some of you. It's a new single release by Alice Wallace, featuring Linda's 1970 song "Long Long Time" (which gave Linda her first Grammy Nomination). The song, which was written by Gary White, was also covered by Alannah Myers in the 1990s - but i think this new version by Alice is well worth a listen, both for her voice, and for the stripped-down singer-songwriter style, which seems to suit the mood of the song particularly well.

(As a complete contrast, the B-side is a Western revival, with swing tempo and plenty of yodeling, proving Alice is a versatile talent!)

2020 and this is going on

@chrisnunn82
Well my hour of nothing but female artists got me fired from my radio station. But it was worth getting these artists on the air.

@chrisnunn82
Let's put it this way...on our no play list. It specifically says "Anything by the Dixie Chicks"

That is how out of tune they are, cant play Gunpowder and Lead, cant play Redneck Woman...its ridiculous

Very nice to see Ingrid Andress have her new album drop yesterday and much luck to this gal.... Great voice and an excellent song writer....

Now that her and Gabby Barrett are in the top 10 hoping for Number# 1 singles, this gal is certainly different with a unique voice ... Hope if anything these gals turn country radio around and their music is heard.....

As her debut album Lady Like dropped yesterday so did her new video and song "The Stranger" beautiful ballad with such a powerful message....
